This is how I always picture Detroit.

I have an idea for them. Escape from Detroit coming to a theater near you.
This is what happens with decades of continuous liberal governing. High debt, high unemployment, welfare dependency, corruption, mismanagement, etc.
Highly inaccurate. This is what happens when decades of white flight are followed by an absolute collapse of the industry the city is almost completely dependent on. If your city's economy is based almost solely on a single business and that business tanks while your city rapidly decreases in size you are going to have a shit ton of problems regardless of who is in charge.
They should sell the city to the Chinese.
5. A city council comprised of the most incompetent, corrupt and stupid people that could be elected.
And they were re-elected over and over, even after these = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqOSNI7l0bQ

except less white folk.
I read it on reddit that Chinese are buying land like crazy. They're DIRT cheap, like few dollars.
That's scary for the future and anyone thinking ahead. You never know where Detroit will be in next 10-20 years. If the city ever prospers or even gets established again. That's big big return!

They'd take one look and D😀:So, what happens now? Do they tear down all the buildings and close the city? Give it back to the Indians?
lol, what do you think CAUSED the white flight? Have you heard the racist shit that comes out of Detroit politicians mouths?
Suburbs of Detroit are also dependent on that one industry as much as Detroit is, and most of them are actually pretty damn nice, and not in danger of going bankrupt.
White flight started because blacks were attracted to the manufacturing job opportunities of Detroit and moved here in droves prompting many whites who didn't want to live/interact with them to leave coupled with high unemployment in the 1950s - not because of racist shit that came out of politicians mouths....well, unless you consider Brown vs Board of Ed to be racist shit. Any claim that white flight started after the rioting and violent outbursts of racial tension in the mid to late 60s completely ignores the ~200,000 mostly white jobs that left for the suburbs from post war until then. It may be the first time the phrase started being used but it started before 1967
As for the suburbs - many are not as dependent on one industry as much as Detroit is. A number of others have been fortunate to hold plants/side industries important enough to keep open. Thus they have not expereienced anything close to the population flight that Detroit has. There are plenty of areas that did not contain plants that were kept open and they have suffered along with Detroit
.. many whites who didn't want to live/interact with them to leave coupled ...
Generally, “blockbusting” denotes the real estate and building development business practices yielding double profits from U.S. anti-black racism; aggravating, by subterfuge, the white home owners’ fears of mixed-race communities to encourage them to quickly sell their houses at a loss, at below-market prices, and then selling that property to black Americans at higher-than-market prices. Given then-standard banking criteria for mortgage-lending, black people usually did not qualify for mortgages from banks and savings and loan associations; instead, they recurred to land installment contracts at above market interest rates to buy a house — a racist economic strategy eventually leading to foreclosure.
With blockbusting, real estate companies legally profited from the arbitrage (the difference between the discounted price paid to frightened white sellers and the artificially high price paid by black buyers), and from the commissions resulting from increased real estate sales, and from their higher than market financing of said house sales to black Americans. The documentary film Revolution '67 (2007) examines the blockbusting practiced in Newark, New Jersey in the 1960s.
Blockbusting was a very common and very profitable form of racist exploitation; for example, by 1962, when blockbusting had been practiced for some fifteen years, the city of Chicago had more than 100 real estate companies that had been, on average, “changing” between two to three blocks a week for years.
.
Except it wasn't the white flight of the 50's, 60's or 70's that killed Detroit. It was the white flight of the 2000's
From 2000-2010 the city population fell 25%
How do I know that you never lived in one of those neighborhoods?
If you had had the chance to observe blockbusting personally, your perspective might be different.

Check it out: http://www.trulia.com/MI/Detroit/
According to Trulia, there are over 1,400 houses listed for $25K or less. I actually even saw a couple on there that were around $15-18K. If you had some spare cash you could totally buy up a few houses and hope that it gets better... though I think 10-20 years is a little optimistic. 😀
😕 I am not sure of your point? My view is that whites feared living next to blacks and left and that large numbers of blacks were moving into the area. Your link would seem to support that:
