Detroit Democratic Mayor pleads guilty, resigns

I'm a little bit surprised, considering the pressure he's had so far - is there something *else* that's coming out about him?

Who will be interim mayor?

There's going to be a lottery at the county jail.

Man, this guy sounds like a thug... and is smug until the end.

That kind of attitude reminds me of the school board in Clayton Country, Georgia. They lost their accreditation a week or two ago for numerous stupid reasons, and so far their response has been to announce that no one should panic because they're going to find another organization to accredit them as-is. Hurray for stupid elected officials!

edit: I should add that the governor has already forcibly removed several members of the board, but that doesn't seem to have raised the average IQ any.

Yep - when the accreditation association said that all of the school board members must resign, they sat back and pointed fingers at each other, saying "all" meant" everyone but me".

It's disturbing that it took the loss of accreditation for the citizens to really start complaining en mass.
