The city of about 800,000 residents has only eight budget grocery stores, yet there are 400 liquor stores. Some 40 square miles of property is either vacant or abandoned roughly the same land mass as the city of Buffalo. Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has even gone as far as to suggest that the city shrinks its boarders in an effort to survive.

Quite the shame that a place of such history for our country and culture is in shambles. And I dare say it's not hit bottom yet. Ford is doing well, GM has promise, but Chrysler is still a pile of crap.
Glad I was never tied to that region. The only time I've been was to pick up my Subaru from an engineer that works for an OEM parts manufacturer up there, heh
