Quite the shame that a place of such history for our country and culture is in shambles. And I dare say it's not hit bottom yet. Ford is doing well, GM has promise, but Chrysler is still a pile of crap.

Glad I was never tied to that region. The only time I've been was to pick up my Subaru from an engineer that works for an OEM parts manufacturer up there, heh

Sad for sure...but it was destined to happen. It is not exactly the most desireable place to live from a location/climate perspective. The people living there were centered around a particular industry and as that industry has gone through its pains and has spread out more over the country...people are leaving as there is nothing keeping them there. Sad though, I agree.

I wouldn't even go that far. Just bomb it while the people are still there. If they haven't left yet, they're not smart enough to integrate anywhere else.

OK, Skoorb's post was obviously a non-serious joke to incorporate the "nuke it from orbit" meme, but this goes over the line. I know it was intended as a joke, but even joking about what is essentially genocide is beyond the pale.
