I wonder what the MPG is going to be on this new taurus...Ford said it should get better MPG than the current model. If this got 30+ MPG that would really make it even more kick ass.

A bit off topic, but I have a question to see if anyone is like me.

I hate buying products that are first year production models. If a model came out in 1984 and ran through 1989, I would never buy a 1984, because it's new and not refined, so any problems that arise are usually ironed out later on.

Whenever I buy I always search around for the latest production model I can find. Personally if something new came out, Id wait till I bought it.

How about you guys?

1st year models after redesign even for luxury makers are always hit or miss. Creaks, electronic gremlins... just more quirks and lemons overall. Luckily for these guinea pigs, some are fixable via new firmware, but I would definitely stay away to avoid headaches (glad I did).

I'm not a huge fan of the super high beltline cars with tiny slit of windows. They even described it in the article - I feel like I'm stuck in a tank.

This, the 300C that it is obviously drawing from, and a number of other cars out there are going that route. I hate losing that nice open feel that big windows provide. Plus these things look to be blind spot and backup nightmares.

I don't want technology replacing something that a quick spot check with my eyes can do just as well, if not better.

Current model gets 18/28 with FWD. I doubt the 2010 will get over 30. Maybe 19 city, 29-30 hwy, but not over 30.
If it does I will be surprised, but I would also be suspicious that they geared the car to score better on the test without seeing an increase in real world driving. At the end of the day it's still a big car with 263hp.

It's a full-size sedan, what did you expect?

As far as sedans go, Ford sure has/will have a nice range. The Fiesta is a great little car. The Focus is decent (give us the Euro version already!). The new Fusion looks fantastic. And now you have the new Taurus (the Crown Vic is now fleet-sales only).
