I must be a little behind the times, still running Win98 SE - They don't even have the new drivers for it anymore! =(

<< Ok, for those of you with speed problems, I've mirrored this:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

Note there are transfer limits on these, but I doubt a 3MB file will take it up (300MB on the Links 2 and 3 and 1 GB on Link 1).
>>

link2/3 gave me 400k/sec... i'm wondering if it does anything for gf2's.

uh... 3 corrupt doewnloads in a row. interesting. link2 was not corrupt for me.

LOL :D :| after I finaly get them at 1.00 Kb/s now all the mirrors show up

29 seconds to get them from link #2 , an hour to get them from 3dchipset

Well, I installed the drivers and tried to run DAOC (Dark Age of Camelot). The computer restarted every time I tried. I just went back to my old drivers. I need some drivers that actually work well for me and don't cause problems! Maybe the final release will work.

I don't know but I'm willing to bet the infamous nv4_disp infinite loop bug is still there.... probably even worse.
I'm trying them out though.

Oh, and btw, I've got 'em installed, ran 'em through the ringer, and they seem solid as a rock so far. (still praying) For anyone who cares, I'm running 'em on a GF2MX, so that might set some of your minds at ease. Tornadobox and HenHowC, you're welcome. :)

They seem good to me. I ran my RTCW timedemos and gained 1-4FPS in all of them...not saying that's anything special (well maybe it is considering I'm using a GF256 SDR at 1024 max everything but 16bpp), but they didn't go down is what counts. :)

Why are people so anxious to gain 1% performance at the risk of losing stability and having problems? It's not really worth it. Let NVIDIA test it further first.

AHHH! My monitor just exploded sending glass shards shooting into my right eye.
...other than that though, these things are great so far :D

EDIT: Bovinicus, what is so risky about it? I can go back to the last version I was using if these are bad. Also, that 4FPS I gained in some areas of RTCW is actually a 10% increase in performance, which is nothing to scoff at for someone on such a dated card.

Well look's like you missed out on your bonus HDD corruption. I've been playing around with them testing them out for about an hour now.... no real problems.

I noticed a very incremental improvement in visual quality in DirectX applications.... small enough that one would need to take a screen shot and compare side by side to really notice anything though. Still, it's nice.

Shockingly enough, I've had no issues with the ever annoying nv4_disp infinite loop bug at all.... if it hasnt shown up this far then I doubt it will.
These are the only Det4's besides the 21.81 that I havent encountered the infinite loop bug. (21.83's were quite good also though)

I got a small performance drop all around in both DirectX and OpenGL applications without FSAA... but it's only about 2% so I don't really care.
I did actually get an equally small performance gain in 4X FSAA though, with no performance difference at all with 2X FSAA.

I havent noticed any compatibility issues thus far, but I've only tested a handful of applications.
As soon as I installed the new drivers NVMax stopped having any effect though. GeForce Tweak Utility stopped working too.
Luckily I managed to get NVMax 4.0 Alpha to work after reinstalling it.

Overall I'm happy with them, I think I'll be sticking with the 27.10's unless I start running into any compatibility issues with them.

Hopefully others will be as lucky as I've been with these drivers in respect to the lack of the infinite loop bug.

hehe you should understand by now that nvidia never beta tests themselves...why waste resources for beta testing when they can have millions of tech-heads out there read and willing to do it for them? ;)

Hey, I got a performance loss with them and I'm still keeping them.

FIXED!

At least it is for me thus far. No infinite loop after just over an hour. Usually if I'm going to have the bug it will happen within a minute of booting up or as soon as I start any 3D application so they seem good to me.

Whether they will fix it for others I have no idea as different people seem to have varying luck with different driver revisions insofar as the infine loop bug is concerned.
Still, it seems to have worked for me so I suggest you install them and try it out.

mine turned a little worse :( (from 22.80's to 27.10).

lost about 300 in 3dmark2001. in games about the same performance.

Nvidia must love us. They have always leaked drivers and since there is a huge user base, someone will try them. They enjoy free reign to leak whatever they want whenever they want. I think that the unified driver is a great idea and I like that they update them frequently.

The question is, do they leak them on purpose? If they do, they enjoy a "we do not support unofficial drivers" advantage that would enrage other graphics chips makers.

*******
Would anyone here do this forum the favor of posting before and after quake III benchies?

I've little doubt they "accidentally" leak them on purpose, if their not then they must have the lax security routine and unreliable employees ever. I mean their drivers are constantly being leaked.... you can't be that insecure unless your intentionally letting them leak.
No other manufacturers have ever had as much "trouble" with leaked drivers as NV has.

Na, I'm sure they leak them on purose and.... but it get's them positive publicity in the enthusiast market for it, and they effectively good a few million free beta testers.

Are there any new driver options in the control panel tab (such as anisotropic filtering for Direct3D or forced trilinear filtering)?

And can somebody post real-world benchmarks (no 3DMark crap)? Thanks.

Well, considering the Geforce 4 is right around the corner, I think that these drivers were made available so that developers or OEM's can do testing with the Geforce 4.

I noticed over 50% increase in 3DMark 2001 high poly scores. With eight lights, Ti500 in my machine scores 7mtriangles/sec.
