Well, I just did a clean install of WinXP Pro then installed SP1 then installed the Detonator 40 drivers. I noticed that at 1600x1200, I cannot choose a refresh rate higher than 75Hz. I have always ran my G520 at this resolution at 85Hz... anyone else having similar problems???

Search this forum and you will find several threads devoted to the 40's and the refresh problem...as well as a fix.

Hmm, as a responsbile member to the forums, I search before I ask. ;) (Unless I missed it anyway  )

To make things more clear, my problem is not with games (as I know how to fix that problem), rather, it's with my monitors refresh rate settings in windows (not playing games).

I can't set my desktop resolution to 1600x1200 (or any other resolution for that matter) and choose a refresh rate over 75Hz (namely 85Hz). Yes, it makes a difference to me.

I guess I'll hold off on the 40s...

Try right clicking your desktop. Choose the "settings" tab. Then pick "advanced". Go to "adapter". Then "list all modes". Choose the settings you want in here and then apply the settings.

This should do the trick for you.

Let me know if it works.

Using powerstrip here with 40.41 drivers. It works fine.

Powerstrip overrides windows default refresh rates and I've never needed the NVRefresh tool with it. Gives you a lot of other options also. (I use it mainly to make my own custom video modes).
