i have a asus v7100 geforce2mx pure. i just updated my default video driver to the detonator 3 yesterday (file W9X-631 from the nvidia website). is there much improvement by using this new driver? it claims to improve performance up to 50%. and what happened to the asus icon on the systemtray? i can't access it anymore. thanks for any input on this.
 
The SysTray icon has more than likely gone as your using nVidia's Detonator Drivers and not the Asus one's.

If the Asus drivers are based already on nVidia's 6.31 reference drivers then your prolly not going to get any performance increase,but you will more than likely lose the additional Asus functions that Asus offers in their driver release. The nVidia drivers are the bare bones drivers with no added features that the manufacturer can give. But essentially there would be no difference.
