I tune a lot of that stuff out, especially size and price statements. I just compare cost per quantity. Can't think of anything off hand, but every so often I see something that makes me think 'WTF does that even mean?'

Shrinking products is a big piss off of mine, along with packaging games to disguise it. I'd like to have a general store where everything was sold in normal weights, and all prices were rounded to sensible unit, and included tax on the shelf price. That way people would know exactly what they were paying in the aisle, and they'd know what they were getting in the package.

now at first, i thought of 25% free but nowhere on the bottle does it say free. it just says 25% more.

They probably weren't counting on the level of paranoia some consumers are apparently operating under.

thought we all predicted this a few times in the past couple years expecting this to happen to food/necessities due to domino effect of gas prices and such. dont remember thread names but there were several of them.

if its not smaller portions its less/inferior ingredients.

I'd rather just pay more. Seriously, quit treating me like an idiot. Less crap in the package at the same price is a price increase. It isn't rocket science, and you aren't fooling me. In fact, you're pissing me off, and I'll switch to a competing, more honest product if possible, or maybe quit using that class of item completely.

Yes...if possible.

Some of those others might also be doing wacky stuff with their ingredients. So the quantity won't change, the package won't change, but the quality of the ingredients will take a dive.

It's the reverse of capitalism's ideal: "We've got make a better product than our competition, so we can sell more!"

Yeah, great.
We also see a lot of this though: "Our competition's been making utter crap lately. We're working too hard on our quality. Lower the bar. No, lower!"

Another reason I prefer buying from companies that aren't publicly traded. Those shenanigans have no borders, but are less common in privately held companies. A privately held company has a vested interest in the distant future, and is less inclined to tarnish their name for near term profits.

Especially when those who stand to benefit most from the stock prices are the same ones who don't need to care if the company crashes and burns - they're still extremely wealthy, and they can likely find themselves another similar job elsewhere.

Bleh, another corrupted system.

"My salary is only $1/year!"

Uh huh. What's the dollar value of the rest of your compensation package?
