Detecting Corrupt files?

Is there any program or something that I can use to see how many corrupt files I may have? I would like to get rid of them and I think I may have some since my computer starts to skip at times and I think that is the reason.

Suggestions?

What does, "starts to skip at times" mean?

Meaning: Freezes/Lags for .1 and then resumes, and happens frequently. I restart my computer and stops, and only happens every few days.

If chkdsk finds allot of problems then your drive may be on its way out.

Only if you have a surface scan done, otherwise its just filesystem corruption
