Modeps - "wah. "

I suppose you think its no big deal for people to vandalize and steal huh. I am fortunate enough to be able to pay for damages, but the vandals have no idea who they are hurting. It could be a single mom who lives check to check and now is faced with a $750 window repair.

Lazy pathetic b@stards ! Sad, sad, world...

Get a car alarm. Each time someone has tried to break into my car, my alarm goes off and by the time I get out, i either see someone 1/4 of a mile away or heard screeching tires. Worse thing that happened was a window being broken, but that's 100 bucks for a used window.....

I had a good idea to stop people from stealing your car once... I dont know how effective it would be...

Take out all wires dealing with ignition. Splice all of them putting a switch in between them all. Now, put all the switches under the dash. Hidden; only you know where they are. Or possibly elseware in the car. And when you want to crank the car, all of the switches must be in the "on" position before it'll crank. Misplace them so that all the on's aren't facing the same way when engaged, ofcourse. And make a mental note of how they are arragned.

That's just a though.... I don't believe I'd ever do it in my own car, though.

Wouldn't they be able to just follow the wires to the switch, unhook and cross the ignition wires and be set to go?

Not a problem in my area but I already know how I would handle it. I would get this crap ass Walmart special and mount it in the dash. I would then mount the real system in my glove compartment. I'd make sure that you would take one look at the radio in the dash and not even consider stealing it would be so craptacular :)

I had a window busted and they stole the radio (face was in the house) damage was 250 for the window and 250ish for the radio.

I had another where they broke in to steal the radio ,they pried the door handle and fudged the door skin
destroyed the dash and left the radio (stock radio).

My newer car just got a detachable face cd player and a new alarm.

Shit happens, You cannot change it, even the alarm doesnt stop them from breaking a window.

I got a basic alarm with door lock controls added a battery back up and an internal siren to make it harder to stay in the car.

I did have a light mounted into the dash that lets you know that the alarm is active...Will it save me anything? nope just a bit of peace of mind. They can still do damage and even bypass the alarm if they know how.

but I might just have a chance of seeing them in the act.(I live in a second story apartment that overlooks where I park my car. I am hoping to hear them if nothing else)

I learned from my experience. Now I don't detach the face. I unhook the entire radio and carry it inside with me.

why don't you just take the car with you? LOL
