So I googled for a code and I had luck - someone posted a comment somewhere just minutes before and I got a valid code added to my bungie account :awe: Selecting my platform though (PS4/Europe) tells me the download codes aren't ready yet for this region. I guess I'll need to do it in a few days?

I should be on broadband by then too. How big is the download?
We don't know the size yet. That info might leak online soon though.

Well I selected the ps4 as the console to play the beta as requested in the email I received. It said on bungie's site we get 4 codes, enough for a fireteam. So looks like I can give one to my friend if he didn't pre order yet.
That's cool, I know a couple people who are on the fence so of they don't get a code and want to play I will give them a code.

Fair enough, from what I have seen so far though it does look promising, and the concept itself seems sound enough.

I actually thought the 4 part video series Gamespot released this past week was really well done and gives good insight into the project.

In other news I also selected PS4 beta on the bungie site last night.

Kaboose666 is my PSN if anyone wants to play starting the 17th.

I added you as well. I'm pretty sure the download size will be quite big if they added content. Last time I just left it on standby and it was ready by the time I got ready for work that morning.

Yeah the download will probably be fairly large, I noticed that during the alpha when I first started the download I was getting fast speeds but it quickly degraded, I wonder if that is just PSN throttling or if there was such a large load on the network from all the concurrent downloaders. I can only imagine it will be worse with the beta. We shall see though, shouldn't take more than an hour or two even with only 50-25% of my full speed being used.

I am glad you can preload the game for the actual launch though, would hate to have to wait hours to download the game on launch night.

I will be getting the disc copy in September. I have also heard they will start selling the white ps4 console without destiny in the future. If I were in the market for one I would want the bundle. I'm curious as to how much we can unlock on our characters in the beta now.

I was thinking about the level cap myself today. I am curious how much they unlocked.

I will be getting the ghost edition at launch.

A leak on reddit claims the download for the beta is 12.63GB and will offer 4 story missions, a strike, 4 PvP maps and a larger area than the alpha to explore.

Also bungie released a statement saying that people should expect there to be hiccups in the beta. Even though the alpha went well and smooth they are going to "kick the servers" and make sure they can still function. They are saying that this isn't just so you can try before you buy, but they are doing actual testing and using us as the lab rats. So if things get weird, they are trying to make things break so they can prepare for the full launch.

That's how it is though, some people think betas are like free demos but we should expect things to be broken or crash.

The alpha though was about flawless up until the final day when they were doing stuff to the server. I think they just dont want people to expect that so much this time. I wouldn't be surprised if some people find it to be as good or better than the alpha but at the same time I don't expect it to be.

Seriously though, for an Alpha, it was real good. I guess them pushing the release date back gave them a lot more time to polish. I'm definitely excited for the Beta but I'll make sure not to play it too much as I don't want to get burned out before the actual game comes out.

The whole game could be a bit different. In terms of missions and stuff. Who knows but I too would not want to get burned out or start over for the third time when the game is released.

Does anyone know what time this starts? Will we be getting codes in the morning? Reason I ask is I can set my ps4 to download via the PlayStation app and it could be ready when I get home.

My guess is we would be getting codes sometime tomorrow via the bungie website. So it won't be like a random send out of codes via email.
So you can just leave the ps4 in standby and be miles away to download the game? I will do the same if that is true.

Yeah pretty sure PS4 can download as long as it's in standby and not off.
