Didn't go to a school with a full-on dress code, but don't think it would be a bad thing at all. If your idea of being "expressive" is wearing the latest Abercrombie & Fitch marketing garb, then... well, I guess you'd be out.

This is much more leniant than a full-on uniform which, in my humble opinion, would be cheaper.

By the way, I'm on my school's watch-list for potential mass murderers. They keep their distance.

That's something to brag about on the internet.

I'd never do it though, a waste of good ammunution, and why on earth would you land yourself dead or in prison just to kill a few dozen dim-witted fools

Typical of someone such as yourself: you have a superiority complex. You think that *everyone* besides yourself is somehow dim-witted. Everyone that actually has a handle on life is somehow a simpleton. A bit of a paradox, don't you think?

Not *everyone*. Just *everyone* that fails to exercise common sense, or attempts to indoctinate others into some sort of political vision or religion, or doesn't have the balls to make themselves and just follows someone else's lead, or otherwise engage in the degradation of society. Democratic society only works if people all have their own opinions.

There are plenty of people at school that I consider my intellectual equals - free-thinking people with their own opinions, who can still relate to people whose opinions don't mesh with their own.

Get over it. You're in high school. You have no rights. I wish they'd legalize spankings again.

That is retarded. Dress codes don't do anything.

Actually they do. They reduce the pressure on kids to fit in. Since all kids are requried to wear the same clothing, kids won't be made fun of because they can't afford Abercrombie and Fitch stuff.

hell, we had a much more strict uniform and it made things so much easier in the morning. never once did i have to consider what clothes i owned. i was just a short dryer cycle away from being dressed for school each day.

I loved having a uniform too. All male Catholic High School. Khaki pants & shirt, khaki web belt (with brass buckle), black socks, black military shoes, and a nametag. I loved not having to worry about how I looked at school, finding something that matched, finding something that was clean, etc.

So what? I went to Catholic schools for both grammer and high school, so that was 8 years of complete school uniform and 4 of shirt/tie/shoes with the school jacket. It's not that bad really, takes the stress ouf of figuring out what to wear. What's the big deal about getting locked into blue/black/khaki? Were you planning on wearing orange with mauve?

Agreed.

But it's not all a good thing the energy spent on harassing people about clothes will be redirected toward harassing them about something else equally meaningless.

Shoes, hair, etc.

ACK!

cameras, semi-uniforms, people thinking everything is a sign you'll kill people, i would so be in jail if i was in public schools these days. long skirts were part of my wardrobe. in one english class every paper i wrote turned into why i should kill everyone in the room. i didn't mean i was going to kill everyone, i was just expressing my disdain for the lifeless/thoughtless blobs that occupied the room and my displeasure with wasting my time there.

lol see a shrink. Funny how people get it into their head that everyone else must be stupid and thoughtless when its them who have the serious psychological problems, as is evident by your post.

There was this girl in my 10th grade English class who wore skirts that were ridiculously short. Like, we'd all sit in a circle sometimes, and if I was across from her not only could I see what color her underwear was, I could tell what brand it was too! And you know how it is at that age, so easy to get wood for no reason... was definately a distraction that could have affected my grades.

Good. Dress codes improve the over all school atmosphere and provides for a more conductive learning environment.

i wish my school would provide us with jumpsuits with our ID numbers and names on them and a bar code on the shoulder area of the jumpsuit so they can scan us as we walk thru the lunch line. that way i would never have to worry about what to wear again and the school would not have to worry about how many inches the shorts are above the knees, i foiled that along time ago. i have not worn shorts in public in 5 years

Our school did that too, you didn't have to. They just did.

actually, yes.

See, this is a good thing then. Orange and mauve clash, so you would have gotten beat up by the gay guys for failing to use good color sense. Orange should be worn with purple while mauve goes best with lime green.

Hehe. I have an orange prison jumpsuit in my closet from Haloween last year. Still have the URL from where I bought it somewhere. Was like, $30. Didn't get too much candy, but they tried to arrest me twice.

This year I'm going as a SWAT cop. Much more expensive :\

Most dress codes dictate what you can wear not what you can't. There is nothing strange about this.
