Desktop shortcut keeps re-spawning

I installeda program called Virtual CD 9 (sort of like Daemon Tools) that I like for some purposes. However it auto-created a desktop shortcut and every time I delete it, it just returns when I restart Windows. I've looked through program settings and also skimmed my registry (not an expert there) and can't find anything that helps.

Normally this type of behavior would anger me enough to un-install the software for good, but this software does something that I can't do with any other software so I need it.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

The111,

Go to start and type in msconfig. When the dialog opens, go to the Start tab and there you'll see programs that start with Windows. Find that program and uncheck its box, then hit Apply. You don't have to restart right away, but Virtual shouldn't start at next boot.

Personally, I right click the shortcut's properties, select "hidden" and be done with it (btw you might also have a look at alcohol 52% if you're interested in these sort of programs. it became freeware sometime in the last year or two

I have a similar problem and I tried your idea except when I right click on it I don't get an option for properties.

or, instead of using msconfig, try downloading the program "autoruns"

it is much easier to use, and just as powerful if not moreso. also it is freeware.
