Im running a very old 19" monitor at 1280x1024 @ different refresh rates. It squeals a lot but goes away in like 30secs. So if you could vote which resolution you use and then post what size monitor and refresh rate that would be swell 🙂 . Also i normally cant play games at 85hz refresh as my monitor says out of range 😱 .

I want to get an idea of a good resolution for my monitor. It is straining now a days, and im wondering whether its because of the resolutions im running at. Also i just wanna know what the avg desktop resolution is.

I voted 1600x1200 @ 85Hz

Running that with:
Radeon 9700pro
Viewsonic P95f+ 19"

Previously had:
GF3 Ti200
Iiyama Vison Master Pro 17
1280x1024 @ 75 Hz

EDIT: I play games @ 1024x768 usually

why nothing higher than 1600x1200? Just too lazy to add in the 1920x1440 and 2048x1536?

Display Info: (4096x1536 32bit 75Hz) ¤ Monitor: (IBM 6652U3N P275)

two of them 21inchers running at 2048x1536
 
Dell P1130 21", 19.8" viewable

Desktop: 1280x960@85Hz
Games: 1024x768@85Hz

Recommended resolution on my monitor is 1280x1024@85Hz, but it just looks retarded. Nothing wrong with the picture it displays, but the black bars on the sides get annoying after a while.

almost identical to you. using a very old 19" monitor. i used to have it in 1280x1024 @85 Hz, but since a few months ago i dropped it down to 1152x864 @75 Hz.

why did i change it? it started to flicker and i don't have the budget for a new one. (it flickered again just now. crap).

... Read the posts in the thread? There's at least 3 people running 1280x1024 on a CRT. I don't see how you missed their posts and read mine...
