Deskstar 75GXP...grinding sound?

Every so often, while using Outlook Express, and accessing a certain newsgroup, I'll hear my HD grind a little, and then an exception error comes up, closing the program.
I also notice on Checkdisk on bootup(Win 2K), that some bad sectors are popping up occasionally, and the grinding sounds will occasionally slow the chkdsk to a crawl.
Thoughts?
