Desk Cable Management

As time goes by, the amount of electronic equipment in the house grows, and the mess of cables snaking around the house grows with it, mostly tangled around PCs. I want to see what people have done to organise the chaos... or how badly you have failed to cope.

I recently put a bit of effort into tidying up behind my PC by:
  • Ensuring all the cables are exactly the right length.
  • Bundling the ones coming out of the PC into a sort of umbilical cord.
  • Moving cables off the floor and instead routing them along walls using pipe brackets.
  • Keeping the bundles of cable together with velcro.

Here's a photo behind the PC. Normally it's flat against the wall, but I pulled it out to expose the cables. There are still places where the cables explode out of control, but parts of it are actually neat now.
