also that its the standard sidearm for the israeli defense force.

i think for only officers.

Praising the Desert Eagle = Telltale sign of someone who has very little to no actual firearms experience.

guns a gun for most people. its not as if we're carrying 24/7 where things like size and weight make a difference. most of us aren't combating super black ops ninjas on a regular basis. if you threatened someone with a de and they knew what it was... or even if they didn't. it owuld have at the very least the same effect as any other gun.

so whats the effect of being hit by just one shot of a de?

The only problem is they are very undependable. For the most part the guns (semi autos) use cartidges designed for revolvers, and they haven't got the feeding system down at all. Sure it looks mean, but if it don't work its about as effective as a super soaker. A gun is not supposed to threaten someone when being used for self defense. It is supposed to work.

Assuming you were able to hit something with it, about the same as .45 ball. The difference is that the .45 round is a lot less likely to keep going and kill the person two houses down.

I'd rather not have to go up against someone with a gun at all, but I'd be a whole lot more frightened of an experienced shooter with a well-used 9mm Sig than some quivering nerd clutching an enormous cartoon handgun he's only fired a few times. Especially since the DE is extremely prone to jamming and doesn't hold many rounds.
