Describe your scariest dream

rh71

No Lifer
I'm fascinated by the wackiness of my dreams (nitemares) sometimes... I swear to myself I'll remember it for later... but I hardly ever do.

I do recall a recurring one where I'm being chased by a gorilla throughout the house... and when I finally get out the door... I cannot run... I keep falling down. It's the worst feeling ever to not be able to get away.

My scariest dream so far was one where I was out taking a walk around my neighborhood with my 2-year-old daughter. Some guy comes and snatches her (on foot), and I can't run fast enough to catch him. I woke up pretty distraught after that one...

you should keep a dream journel... just leave it by your bed and right when you wake up describe your dream, and draw pictures to help you remember

Next time try leaving the ground and flying, that's the most common escape. Also helps if you can find an error in the scenery and can focus on that, since I found that as a kid I didn't have any nightmares again for about 15 years (if I recognize an error in a dream I can now 'step out of it', and just wake up, or take control of the dream), when they suddenly became realistic ones and a million times more horrifying.

The most terrible one I woke up crying from, and I only told the person who that was about, and won't tell anyone else.

Edit: It's like watching a horror movie. It's fun as long as it doesn't get too close to reality. And in a dream you cannot just walk away if it cannot be distinguished from reality.

I think I'm having a nightmare right now...no job... no career... economy is poor...car sucks... and my server is dead.

I can relate (I have a two-year-old son), but the one that shook me the most was a dream in which i saw my wife trip over a vine or root and fall backwards over a steep cliff into a ravine (screaming my name all the way down untill she hit bottom). I jolted awake in a cold sweat relieved to be in bed with her next to me- then grabbed and held her so hard that she woke up and asked what was wrong. Just typing this and invoking the memory of that dream sends shivers down my spine.

A couple days ago...i had a dream that I was standing on the top of a really tall building in NY (kinda like an apartment building w/ the flat roof)...in the middle of winter. I was have a great conversation with one of my professors then it turned into a huge high school reunion party. I was asked to take pictures..and my friend thought it would be funny to hang off the side of the building like she was climbing up (said it would make the picture look cool).

But I guess it was icy or something and she slipped and fell off the roof dragging me with her. Then I had this moment (I think i was half awake maybe?) where I was floating and my body really felt like it was floating...and then I two seconds before i slammed down on the ground I woke up...but I think the aftershocks of the "fall" hurt me really bad b/c for the rest of the day I felt like I was hit by a truck.

It isn't my scariest dream..but it really freaked me out. If I hadn't woken up right at the last minute..would I have died?? Eek.

Another dream I had...last night. It was a cross between the Ring and Darkness Falls...(both movies I haven't seen, though). It started out nice. (all my bad dreams seem to). I was married to Heath Ledger but the chick from the Ring (his real life gf) was trying to steal him away. All of a sudden I had this baby in my arms...and I (w/ a whole bunch of people) were ushered into a large auditorium. That's where the darkness falls part comes it. It was semi-dark in the room and I knew that the darkness falls lady was gonna get my baby if it was too dark. So I used my cell phone to light up the baby so that the scary lady wouldn't get him. It was REALLY freaky and scary b/c I kept waking up every couple minutes and everytime I fell back asleep the dream would continue. The scary lady was scary and wanted to eat my baby. I had already seen proof of what she had done to other babies and other people. She EATS them and like..spits them back out w/ piece of flesh and bone and stuff. It was so scary!!

K..too long. bye.

Oh yea..another time. I had a dream that one of my boyfriend's friends tried to rape me. I woke up and was shaking all over b/c it felt so real. Maybe that's why I have this strong dislike of his friend now. Hmm...

Nativesunshine... I think the baby and the rape dreams are women-only dreams. Unfair, aren't they? 🙂

About the waking up just before hitting the ground... I've read that if you die in a dream, you really die in life... not that I believe it, but at the same time... that's why I don't think it truly ever happens to people in dreams. I'd like to hear about those who actually thought they died in the dream. Did they wake up from it right afterward or did other things happen to them thereafter?

I had a nightmare once where my dad, my brother, and I were walking in the city at night. Everything was pitch black except for the areas right around the street lights. At one point, I couldn't see my dad or my brother because I had wandered off a little. Then I heard two gunshots and the sound of two bodies hitting the ground. Then I heard a third gunshot and I felt myself collapse to the ground. I woke up right after that...

i have these reaccuring dreams where i wake up and im in my room and someone is on top of me holding me down and choking me. i try to scream and move but nothing happens.
its absolutely the scariest thing ever because i think i'm awake. this feels like it goes on for hours. i have woken my family up a bunch of times with my screaming and stuff.

I used to do that....it is weird reading through them again...really weird.

I actually enjoyed most of my dream, none are scary as far as I know. Occasionally, I get taken to heaven with 2 girls on the bed and I was like, wow! Then I woke up, just when it was getting to the good part!

That sounds like Sleep paralysis. If you were Hmong, you'd have to find a shaman to call your soul/spirit back. It's lost, thats why demons can attack you.

I had a dream that we there is a war and a nuke is dropped. I see the smoke from across a lake and finally hit the window I was standing in front of. I drop to the ground and shut my eyes. I repeat the words, this is it, I am dead. I get up to find myself in a white room with family and friends but I can't find my wife, I search among the faces but she's not there. I am afraid. I search anxiously through the faces. Finally, she runs to me through the crowd. We hug each other and cry.

I wake up crying. My worst dream ever.

Yeah, this sounds like sleep paralysis... i use to get them almost weekly when i was younger... haven't had them in years though. They never really bothered me that much, though i have a friend who gets it almost everynight, and she doesn't handle them very well.

I would've said the same thing, except... you can't scream during sleep paralysis...

She said she tries to scream and move, but nothing happens. I'm assuming the waking her parents up is when she finally breaks free from the paralysis and screams.

my friend claims to have died in dreams lots of times... once when people thought she was a witch and burned her at the stake..

That's BS about dying in dreams and dying in RL... and yes, i've died in dreams. Went through the whole white tunnel experience and everything... flying around the city as a ghost, etc. Of course it was a dream, so it wasn't very logical.
