Describe the Good Old Days

A little more fun than a plain, old "How old are you" thread.

The good old days to me are Phil Neikro, Dave Raghetti, Commodore 64's, those ridiculous slap-bracelets, databank watches, can't think of anything else right now...

i was weaned on an LCII and math blaster.

good old days of computing means going to egghead with my dad, and getting a broderbund edutainment game. 🙂

Hey! I still have a databank watch somewhere. Strap is long broken but it still has phone numbers it in from hs!

Insane quantities of AOL floppy disks (for DOS of course), 2400bps modems, tweaking usage of conventional/extended memory for games, Sound Blaster Pro ("OMG STEREO SOUND"), etc.

The good ol' days included the sound of a 5 1/4" disc being accessed. CChHHUUGUUGUUGUGUHGUUHGHU. And that satisfying "THWUNK!" when you flipped down the latch over the drive bay... Ah, those were the days. A much simpler time in the computer era. I don't think anyone in my family ever bought a real birthday, mother's day, or father's day card. That' what Print Shop was for. 🙂

Back in highschool days, when I was playing tennis. The swimmers one day decided to take a box of soap and fill the locker room with water/suds, and got us in trouble. For payback, we drank lots of water before practice and pissed in their lockers. 🙂

Edit: During the late 90's when the internet was free from spyware and popups.

programming in BASIC.

Good ol' days of watching Transformers, GI Joe, Thundercats, A-Team, Knight Rider, CHiPs (yea you could see them nowadays..but it was great watching fresh episodes after school!). Playing with my NES and Sega Master System. Eating that awesome 2 in 1 Nintendo cereal as well as Mr. T cereal. Watching the Mets win the series in '86.

The days before ten-digit dialing.

I remember five-digit dialing. 😱 In a small town kinda behind the times.

I remember dialing when all phones had was a dial. Cassettes were new. Watergate story was just breaking.

Using the 4MHz Z80 for fast subroutines in the C128 together with running software in the 1541 disk drive. Altogether using 3 CPUs!!

Overclocking the C128 in 40 column mode by using the VIC screen interupt to toggle between 1 and 2MHz (and cashing in $20 for that idea back in '86).
