Listening to Foghat on an 8 track tape player in the back seat of my buddy Tom's ( R.I.P. Tom) car. Making out with our respective GF's, in that quiet 2 hours between school getting out and parents coming home.
Not having to use a condom in fear of your life.
No cell phones, no pagers, just .10 cent pay phones.
Sub $1.00/ gallon gasoline
Learning BASIC for the Radio Shack z-80 box

The good old days to me are Phil Neikro, Dave Raghetti, Commodore 64's, those ridiculous slap-bracelets, databank watches, can't think of anything else right now...

No cell phones... no cable TV... ChiPs and Dukes of hazard on TV... no computers except pong and Atari 2600 swatch watches...

Renting VHS wrestling tapes like Hulkamania and watching them with my brother. Waiting for Saturday Night's Main Event to come on, with my bro - and hearing that great opening song. Playing Coleco Vision or Sega Master System. Taking my Honda Z-50 for a spin through some neighbouring fields. Shooting frogs with my pellet gun. Finding a 6-toed frog that ended up on the front page of the community newspaper (can u say small town?). Putting worms in people's boots at school and getting "the strap" for it. Bert & Ernie.

I could go on for way too long. Those are the good old days to me.

Playground equipment was a hard steel jungle gym on concrete. You climbed all the way to the top and were damn careful not to fall off unlike today's plastic/foam sh!t.

We all played war or G.I. Joe at recess with our toy guns. None of this zero-tolerance b.s. nowadays. Boys were boys!

No one in my class was on ritalin, prozac, zoloft, or any other prescription drugs.

Ahh, the Good Old Days - when your parents took care of you and not Nanny State, USA.

Underdog was my favorite cartoon when I was born in 66. playing Cowboys and Indians was a fun game to play with your toy plastic guns.

Good old days were....
-Parents lining up outside "CORECOM" for a whole day to buy a big new 18" east german TV. Remotes didn't exist back then, the TV cost a monthly salary and you could view any of the two state broadcasts (only during the times there were broadcasts that is)
-spending hours upon hours with my friends on queues for toilet paper, oil, vinegar and...well, pretty much everything else
-going (with my friends) stray dog huntin' using pipes that shot needle tipped paper cones.
-endless hours of soccer
-general mischief.

Those were the days...long gone.....*sigh*

I was born in '83 in Bulgaria and came here to Canada in '96, so grew up in a very anarchaic time there. But let me tell you, I had the most incredible childhood ever. I would not trade it for anything in the world :)

Elementary school. Walking and riding my bike (Huffy!) to school. Do kids still do that?
Arcades in the 70's and up to the mid 80's.
Being able to play pong at home on my TV!! (Odyssey 500 <-still have it w/ box!)
The first handheld video games.
Playing Atari 2600's and Intellivisions in the stores.
Finally getting an Atari 2600 ('81). Bro and I lived Atari 2600's (still have it w/ box).
When we had Godfathers Pizza (early 80's, the real Godfathers, not the gas station crap now).
When Star Wars Ep 4-6 and Indy Jones came out.
Going to PCB, Florida for summer vacations.
Finally getting cable!
MTV in the early to mid 80's.
Awesome 80's music.
No hip hop. Very little rap.
Finally getting a VCR!
My first BMX bike you couldn't buy at a dept. store (20" GT). Riding to the 7-11 to play Dragon's Lair, etc. Riding around the entire city with friends. Less worries of getting attacked.
Riding friend's motorcycles (dirt bikes).
My go-cart.
Going to the park for our ball games.
Commodore 64's, 300 baud modems (and running it at 400!), hundreds of 5.25" floppies of games, BBS's. Being able to finally get a second floppy drive ruled with Fast Hackem (I can still hum the music for it).
Finally getting my Amiga 500 (after a long anticipation period), that put my bud's PC to shame. Hundreds of 3.5" floppies of games. RAM expansion, extra floppy. Hard drive? Phfft.
All the 'first things' with the chicks.
Drinking for the first time.
Wanting an Iroc Z.
Getting my first car, a '78 Camaro :), in '87. Working on it, hot rodding it, putting money in it.
First concerts.
Headbanger's Ball.
College (Jr. High and High School sucked other than rolling and causing other destruction, and drinking).
Getting pilot's licenses/ratings.
Dance clubs.
It's all gone downhill from there. :)

Plus all the usual stuff...sports, fishing, running around the neighborhood, wiffleball, sledding, fireworks, friend's parent w/ hidden pron, causing trouble.

And:
When my parents were younger and all my grandparents were alive.
When I was younger with less responsibility, worries, and problems.
Before all my friends got married.

And:
Less bling bling. Pants worn to the waist. No stupid extra large chrome car wheels. Fewer thugs and gangs. Parents gave their kids more guidance. Kids obeyed more. Everyone spoke English.

We didn't have paper. I used a shovel as my paper and a piece of coal as my "chalk" as I did my homework by the fireplace..

Hell, how about the days before fvcking unleaded gas, when cars had compression, and were ALL rear wheel drive! When cars had backseats you could lay in, let alone sit comfortably in. When bumpers were chrome, and convertables were everywhere AND fast! When tires were big and fat and easily absorbed bumps without cracking rims and rattling your teeth. When you could actually fix your own engine, and access parts under the hood... EASILY! When you didn't have to pass a damn smog check or maintain the stinkin' parts to pass one. :|
