Des Moines reporter's acquittal lauded as victory for press freedom

Can you please not link to what is probably a fucking supercookie enema of a link? Goddamn, ATT and Verizon are probably goat fucking anyone that clicks that link.

I'm sure its scarcely unbiased, but:

Unfortunately it seems like the case fell apart simply because the fucking piece of shit cop conveniently didn't have his body camera on until 15 minutes after the arrest.

I heard an interesting point made that arresting and charging journalists is something you'd expect to see coming out of somewhere like Russia, China or Saudi Arabia. Granted, in the US, the journalists were at least given a fair trial and found not guilty, but just the fact that they were arrested and charged demonstrates that we as a nation are not this bastion of freedom we pretend to be. And not because states have mask restrictions.

His body cam was not recording during the incident.

why..... why... WHY is this sooooo fucking common? I mean the citizens paid for the things. USE the fucking things. There should be a law (or at the very least an employment requirement) to have the camera on. Jesus that pisses me off. If you don't have it on during protest/demonstration then what's the damned point of having it?!?!

Thanks dawp,
I needed some good news today.

I feel like this country is heading in the direction of 18th century England. Is that not what we escaped from?

Dude...this was a journalist.......the case fell apart because there was no case! The police over stretched their asuthority! Plain and simple! This had nothing to dom with the Police not having their body cameras on! Givew it a break for heavens sake!

PThis was caused by trump’s war on the media. If she was from Fox News, oann or newsmax and had an id showing she would have been protected by the LEOs.
