Crap. Not only is it probably too late to tank, but the Bulls have exactly the wrong coach to do it.

But if the Bull's GM is a "real" GM and not a paycheck-cashing pansy he'll trade ANYTHING of value (besides Noah, especially Deng), rest Noah a ton with phantom injuries (letting him heal completely), and make every effort to get a game changer next draft to form a core with Rose and Noah.

Tanking in the Eastern Conference is especially difficult because the teams that are set up to win (NYK, Brooklyn) can't. The Bulls could start their mascot and still cruise to a playoff spot. The Eastern Conference has three teams over .500, as compared to 10 in the West. It's just madness.

Bummer for Derrick Rose though. Hope he's able to come back and have a long, injury-free remainder of his career.

So tired of Wilbon talking about how on the 8th day god created the NBA and how the NFL sucks, this actually makes me happy.

This is tough for Bulls fans like me.

I didn't have a good feeling about letting Nate Robinson go.....and Rose hasn't really looked himself this season either but thought it was just a matter of time.

Now, we won't even know.

Imagine how Adidas feels hehe....

As a Bulls fan I am not sad, cause I believe the Bulls had no shot anyway. They got rid of all their bench scoring, and replaced it with Dunleavy......

As a Derrick Rose fan, I am sad. This could very well be the end of his career. He will probably come back to play sometime next season, but he is never going to be the same. He is either going to have to become a Rondo type player, or a shooter, cause he is not going to be able to get to the rim like he wants to.

This could very well force GarPax to actually do something. I think they have to look at getting rid of some expiring contracts to get picks or young bench players. Deng and Boozer are not worth re-signing, and if you can get something for them, that would be a win.

There is no way the Bulls would or could tank and get a decent pick. I think the best they could do is around 9-12, unless they were able to offload a bunch of players. Like someone else said, the east is REALLY bad.

Ever since the refereeing is different from the regular season to the playoffs by a landslide, I have quit watching. It was essentially the same until around 2000. The NBA has the worst officiating in major pro sports. The NFL is trying to catch up with them as of late.

Now, I just watch some regular season games and the NBA Finals.

Well, the Bulls could go on auto-tank by announcing they're going to "develop" Teague and starting him the rest of the way with big minutes (I don't know which of the 1700 different spellings of Marcus he uses).

The guy has no feel for NBA basketball.

NBA is kind of like Hip Hop, all down hill since 2000.......just terrible.

Although I do like to watch a game here and there (mostly Bulls) i just don't enjoy it as much either.

The NBA was great when it was marketed as a team sport and people paid to see teams play. Now, it's all about one guy and 5 other "who are theys" as the NBA has worked so hard to market it individually.

I loved, absolutely loved, the NBA of the 80's, 90's, and very early 2000's as it was the teams that made the sport. The whole indivdualistic nature of the NBA and the horrible officiating that goes on to accommodate it make watching it a waste of time.

Here's a snippet of what games look like today: Superstar gets the ball, someone farts in his general direction, foul called. Regular Joe-Player gets the ball, mauled and mugged by Superstar, no foul called.

I remember David Stern saying at some point years ago that games were called the way they were because people weren't paying to see Joe Sixpack on the floor...they're paying for Superstar Gimme More to be on the floor.

All sports have up and down periods. The last 6 or 7 years of the NBA have been interesting. Roses first season where Chicago took Boston to 7 games in the first rounds of the playoffs was one of the most intense and incredible playoff series I've ever watched. The finals between Boston and LA were great when KG/Piece/Ray were clicking and those were some great series. The finals between the Heat and Mavericks in the first season of the "Heat Superteam" was incredible. Last years finals between Miami and San Antonio was also great.

The problem with the NBA is that there are too many teams, and too many regular season games. They need to shrink down 3-4 teams and condense some of the talent. They also need to cut back to a 60 game regular season to keep legs fresher, cut down on injury, and prevent those mail in games where teams don't even try. The playoff brackets could also afford to be cut down a bit more. Instead of 16 teams, make it 10 and give top 1 seed in each conference a 1st round bye. Then you further increase the competition in the regular season.

Granted the games are slower, but ultimately, there's a lot less hero ball. The players actually care about winning regular season games as well, which makes things more interesting.

The bulls tanking this season will not help them because all the high round draft picks are taken already, and with the upcoming group of draft eligible players NO team is going to give up a high pick.

They are basically screwed.

Sounded right in my head. Guess that should have been 12 teams with 2 teams per conference with buys like the NFL does.

I just think that the NBA season has too many games and they play them far too close together. Chicago for example has 4 games in 5 nights in this stretch. It's no mystery why these guys are getting so many injuries. That's a pile of abuse on your body in very condensed amount of time. I really think the quality of play and competition throughout the year would improved with a tightened up schedule and smaller number of playoff spots.

yeah, it's a much better game. sucks to actually like watching basketball...vs whatever the NBA is trying to be.

Actually you have it backwards. The NBA of the 80s, 90s, and early 00s was the epitome of superstar ball instead of teamwork. The rules for defense and fouls made the game pretty much all one on one on offense and all fouling on defense. Starting in '03 and onwards rule changes have been implemented that free the "flow" of players and make the game movement oriented.

Defensive rules have changed so that team defense is the focus, which in turn has changed the way offenses play. Now you can't have ballhog guys chucking up shots on ISOs and get a 20ppg scorer.

The NBA is seeing its heyday of pure basketball today.
