Somebody has it right!! I totally agree with the Israeli Ambassador....
Hamas doesn`t care if they kill Israeli citizens...but they don`t care if Palestinian civilians die...for Hamas until recently having Palestinians die has been a huge public relations coup for Hamas!! To Hamas that is a win, win!!

It has been said that Israel is using a missile defense system to protect its citizens and Hamas is using it`s citizens to protect it`s missiles!

If Hamas had the opportunity they would kill the maximum number Israeli`s they could....
Yet Israel has the opportunity to kill way more people and they do not.....
The Palestinian people have made some very bad choices of their own leaders and are victimized by their leaders...

Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005.....it`s not occupying Gaza.
Then the Palestinians elected Hamas in 2007!

Truth be told Israel doesn`t want to be in Gaza...Israel wants to take out tunnels and missile launchers and leave Gaza...

If Hamas truly cared about the Palestinians people they would have built underground shelters for the people! Instead they built tunnels to smuggle and hide missile launchers...

The Israeli army should be given the Nobel Peace Prize for its “unimaginable restraint” in Gaza, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, said Tuesday.

During an address at the Christians United for Israel Summit in Washington, Dermer was interrupted several times by hecklers, but delivered a passionate and warmly received speech in defense of Operation Protective Edge, calling Iran the “Great Evil” and accusing the United Nations and human rights groups of inadvertently aiding Hamas in its war against Israel.

“Some are shamelessly accusing Israel of genocide and would put us in the dock for war crimes,” Dermer said. “But the truth is that the Israeli Defense Forces should be given the Nobel Peace Prize… a Nobel Peace Prize for fighting with unimaginable restraint.”

Dermer’s comments followed a statement issued by Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman, who on Sunday said that the IDF is the “most humane and bravest army in the world.”

During World War II, the British army responded to German attacks with the “carpet bombing of German cities,” Dermer said. While he was unwilling to criticize the United Kingdom for doing so, he continued, “at the same time, I will not accept, and no one should accept, criticism of Israel for acting with restraint that has not been shown and would not be shown by any nation on earth. I especially will not tolerate criticism of my country at a time when Israeli soldiers are dying so that innocent Palestinians can live.”

At that point in Dermer’s speech, given to a packed auditorium of Christian Israel supporters, he was interrupted by hecklers. “There is a section for moral idiots at the back of the room,” he responded, according to a transcript of the speech posted to his Facebook page.

“Israel did not have to send its soldiers into many of the places they are fighting today. We could have given people time to evacuate these areas — which we did anyway — and then bombed from the air all the buildings that were being used by fighters to store and fire weapons. But we didn’t. As we have done time after time, we are sending our soldiers into this hornet’s nest of Palestinian terror that is booby-trapped with mines and riddled with subterranean tunnels.”

Israel has been harshly criticized for the high number of casualties in Gaza during the current conflict with Hamas. More than 580 people, many of them civilians, have been killed since the IDF launched Operation Protective Edge on July 8, according to Palestinian sources. Israel has lost 27 soldiers in its effort to end rocket fire from terrorists in Gaza, thwart Hamas “attack tunnels” and restore calm to Israel’s cities.

Rather than censure, Dermer said, Israel deserves the international community’s admiration, as no army in history has taken greater care than the IDF to protect innocents.

Observers of the conflict should keep in mind the “moral difference” between Israel and Hamas, the US-born Israeli diplomat said. “It is a battle between a compassionate country that’s dropping leaflets, making phone calls and sending text messages to save Palestinian civilians, and a brutal terror organization that uses hospitals as military command centers, manufactures rockets next to mosques and turns UN schools into weapons depots.”

Hamas is “doing everything to put Palestinian civilians into harm’s way – by ignoring IDF warnings to evacuate, by forcing Palestinians to serve as human shields, and by placing missile batteries next to playgrounds, hospitals and homes,” he said. “And you know why Hamas is doing this? It’s not only because of the evil they represent – and it may not be politically correct, but they are evil. After all, an organization that is capable of producing scores of suicide bombers doesn’t care a whit about Palestinian civilians losing their lives.

“But Hamas also uses its strategy of human shields because it works… Because time after time, when Palestinian civilians die, when those heart-wrenching pictures of women and children appear on television – pictures that would move any decent human being – the blame is placed on Israel and the pressure is put on Israel.”

The IDF, on the other hand, is doing everything to get Palestinian civilians out of harm’s way, said Dermer, a close confidant of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Quoting Edmund Burke to the effect that all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people do nothing, the Israeli diplomat said that the behavior of the UN and many human rights organizations was worse than being silent in the face of evil.

“They attack the good. They attack Israel for its legitimate actions of self-defense. They file Goldstone reports accusing Israel of war crimes,” Dermer said, referring to a UN report that was hugely critical of Israel’s 2008-09 Operation Cast Lead. Those organizations are indeed better than Hamas in that they don’t intentionally harm Palestinian civilians, he allowed, “but in convincing Hamas that its strategy of using human shields will be effective, they are unwittingly serving as their accomplices.”

In his fiery speech, the Israeli ambassador also hailed the Kurds in Northern Iraq “for their decency and humanity,” and took a dig at Iran and Hezbollah. “Hamas in Gaza is the little evil. The ayatollah regime in Iran is the great evil,” he said. “I don’t mean to offend Hezbollah but they’re just the medium-size evil.”

Haha that will be the day. Didn't Arafat get a nobel peace prize in the middle of the intifada? I'm surprised they didn't give Hitler a nobel peace prize for nearly wiping out the Jews.

Yes, they deserve a Nobel Prize for not killing all the people they could have killed.
That is the new qualification.

I understand they're using a great deal of restraint, but it's in bad taste to suggest a military should have a peace prize, no?

In other news serial killers should get nobel peace prize for not killing as many as they could have. Brilliant. Terrorist state versus terrorist state. One is heavily armed, the other is not.

You should get a prize for hyperbole, that much is certain.

Either that or your knowledge of Nazi atrocities and war crimes is sorely lacking.

German Nazis didnt reach the rate of 90% civilian killed and werent as prone to gun down women and children...

On the other hand Hamas killed 27 militaries and did only 2 collateral deads, this is Hamas that should be prized actualy.

JEDIYoda, how many threads are necessary for you to get your Israeli PR out?
As many as it takes for you to understand the truth of the following statements--

First of all let me say that it is just tragic that Palestinian children and parents are dying! It is very sad...

But lets ask the bigger question -- Whose fault is it?
If it`s your father or uncle or brother who is firing those rockets into Israel..whose fault is it really?

Do you really expect the iIraeli`s not to retaliate?

To understand this better we need to look at the Hamas Charter...which even though the rook out article 10......their leaders as of 2012 had called for the destruction of Israel....
Yet even now the charter calls for the murder of Jews in general...

Hamas doesn`t care if they kill Israeli citizens...but they don`t care if Palestinian civilians die...for Hamas until recently having Palestinians die has been a huge public relations coup for Hamas!! To Hamas that is a win, win!!

It has been said that Israel is using a missile defense system to protect its citizens and Hamas is using it`s citizens to protect it`s missies!

If Hamas had the opportunity or the weapons they would kill the maximum number Israeli`s they could....
Yet Israel has the opportunity to kill way more people and they do not.....

If you are Israel you have to win every war(regardless of public opinion) or military engagement.....to continue to be Israel you cannot go 8 and 1.....

Then we have the fact that everybody wins when that region of the world is peaceful! At present nobody is winning....both sides will win when the region is in peace!!

If Hamas truly cared about the Palestinians people they would have built underground shelters for the people and used their resources to improve the Palestinians lives! Instead they built tunnels to smuggle and hide missile launchers...they are using their resources against Israel and NOT for the people that elected them...hmmmm

You're a little confused about what happened in Europe in the 40's obviously.

I know it's just wiki but this should bring you up to speed:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Holocaust

The Holocaust was a genocide in which approximately six million Jews were killed by the German military, under the command of Adolf Hitler, and its collaborators. Killings took place throughout the German Reich and German-occupied territories.[3]

Between 1941 and 1945 Jews, Gypsies, Slavs, communists, homosexuals, the mentally and physically disabled and members of other groups were targeted and methodically murdered in the largest genocide of the 20th century. In total approximately 11 million people were killed during the Holocaust including over 1 million children.[4][5] Of the nine million Jews who had resided in Europe before the Holocaust, approximately two-thirds were killed.[6]

A network of about 42,500 facilities in Germany and German-occupied territories were used to concentrate, confine, and kill Jews and other victims[7] and between 100,000 to 500,000 people were direct participants in the planning and murder of Holocaust victims.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_human_experimentation

In 1941, the Luftwaffe conducted experiments with the intent of discovering means to prevent and treat hypothermia. There were 360 to 400 experiments and 280 to 300 victims indicating some victims suffered more than one experiment.[8] One study forced subjects to endure a tank of ice water for up to five hours.

At various times between September 1939 and April 1945, many experiments were conducted at Sachsenhausen, Natzweiler, and other camps to investigate the most effective treatment of wounds caused by mustard gas. Test subjects were deliberately exposed to mustard gas and other vesicants (e.g. Lewisite) which inflicted severe chemical burns. The victims' wounds were then tested to find the most effective treatment for the mustard gas burns.[14]

The Law for the Prevention of Genetically Defective Progeny was passed on 14 July 1933, which legalized the involuntary sterilization of persons with diseases claimed to be hereditary: weak-mindedness, schizophrenia, alcohol abuse, insanity, blindness, deafness, and physical deformities. The law was used to encourage growth of the Aryan race through the sterilization of persons who fell under the quota of being genetically defective.[18] 1% of citizens between the age of 17 to 24 had been sterilized within 2 years of the law passing. Within 4 years, 300,000 patients had been sterilized.[19] From about March 1941 to about January 1945, sterilization experiments were conducted at Auschwitz, Ravensbrück, and other places by Dr. Carl Clauberg.[14] The purpose of these experiments was to develop a method of sterilization which would be suitable for sterilizing millions of people with a minimum of time and effort. These experiments were conducted by means of X-ray, surgery and various drugs. Thousands of victims were sterilized. Aside from its experimentation, the Nazi government sterilized around 400,000 individuals as part of its compulsory sterilization program.[20] Intravenous injections of solutions speculated to contain iodine and silver nitrate were successful, but had unwanted side effects such as vaginal bleeding, severe abdominal pain, and cervical cancer.[21] Therefore, radiation treatment became the favored choice of sterilization. Specific amounts of exposure to radiation destroyed a person’s ability to produce ova or sperm. The radiation was administered through deception. Prisoners were brought into a room and asked to complete forms, which took two to three minutes. In this time, the radiation treatment was administered and, unknown to the prisoners, they were rendered completely sterile. Many suffered severe radiation burns.[22]

I assume you can easily show how Israel has surpassed Nazi crimes...

All police officer who are not corrupt and do their job properly should be given medals and praise too.

Since when does simply doing ones job honorably deserve a medal? Police officers are paid to do their job properly and corruption is against the law, which they take an oath to uphold.

Please tell me I am missing your sarcasm, and you are making a sarcastic analogy to the point the OP is trying to make. :p
