Derek Lee's Stats at the All-Star Break

AVG .378 (1)
Home Runs 27 (1)
Hits 119 (1)
RBI 72 (2) Carlos Lee has 76
Runs 69 (2) Albert Pujols has 70
Doubles 27 (2) Brad Wilkerson has 28

Think of how bad the Cubbies would suck if Lee was having an average year. They'd be 20 games out of first instead of only 12.5 back.

Monster season, finally living up to his potential.

how many hits did Ichiro have at the end of last year to break the record ? BTW, that avg is insane at this point in the season.

Just think the pads could have kept him instead of nevin 🙁

He walks too much to get near ichiros record.

Does he have a nickname? His name is too plain for the stats he has. He needs something to stand out. Names like Pujols and Beltran I never even heard of outside of baseball, ARod is a decent nickname, as is The Rocket or Big Unit etc.

Lee is a fine last name!

(and no, I don't think I'm related to Bruce)

Sure Lee is a great last name... if you're an IT manager or an accountant. 😉

I think they would suck worse than the Devil Rays

Too bad the 1 and 2 guys can't get on base, or D. Lee would be way ahead in RBI's.

That's changed for the past two games with Hairston and Walker hitting in the 1 and 2 spots. Batting Patterson and Perez and 1 and 2 made no sense whatsoever prior to that.
Hopefully things will change for the better.

Manny Lee was a great shortstop! 😀

And in this edition of Did You Know...

Once upon a time when baseball was still in black and white, there was a player with the last name Lee... he requested the uniform number 337 but was denied. LEE = 337.

Hairston and Walker have much better OBP's than Patterson and Perez, so his RBI opp's should go up

While players seem to like the Lizard, his baseball 'x's and o's' leave something to be desired...he pretty much ignores pitch counts, on-base-percentage....the list goes on and on...

I'm surprised they managed to do this well, which is only to say that they are still in the wildcard hunt, given their bullpen and injuries....

If Nomar can stay healthy for the 2nd half, the Cubs could make things interesting

Since I don't follow the Cubs, I was wondering if they walk him like they did Barry Bonds, since he is putting up comparable numbers. Even when the Giants were out of the playoff race, the reasoning was that other teams didn't want to lose, so they'd walk him.

If I were pitching against the Cubs, I'd walk him every single at bat. There is no one else that can get a hit

that same thought comes to my head every single time nevin strikes out in clutch situations. he always looks so uneasy in the box in those type of situations. he better not pull that crap in the playoffs and snap that phobia really quick.

His batting average is just insane. I hope to see a triple crown winner this year but for that to happen, the 1 & 2 guys have to get on base more often.

his name was Bill Lee, and he was in the major leagues as recently as 1982, so there was nothing old about it.
