simple fact is, baseball isn't a socialist endevour. It's a perfect example of supply and demand working to it's full extent through capitalism

why should the owners be getting rich?

They are going to continue getting $ from the TV revenues, and the tickets sales. I'd rather see the players get rich than the owners.

I also think that Pro's shouldn't play in the olympics. I don't care if other countries do it, we shouldn't. Like I really want to see the "dream team" win again.

Who cares what you think about the Olympics? If you don't like it, don't watch. I like watching America being victorious. I don't like watching us loose. Losing is no fun, and not quality entertainment.

<< why should the owners be getting rich? >>

Haha, now that's a good one. Why shouldn't the owners get rich? They have to pony up the cash for the organization, deal with all of the business headaches, and tolerate the whiny players that work for them. If anyone should get rich off of these deals, it's the owners. The owners make it all possible. If the owners didn't get rich off of it, they wouldn't own the team. If the team had no ownership, there would be no team, no games, no big contracts. Someone would have to be REALLY stupid to pay all that money to athletes and be losing money after it's all said and done (unless business losses are being used for tax relief purposes, but that's a different story). Just like any other industry, it is the business owner that should get the biggest payoff.

If you were a TRUE yankees fan. You would know how much he is worth. He has the intangibles. Have you looked at his numbers in the world series?

but really, if you don't like the athletes making so much money, turn off the TV, don't watch sports, don't go to any ballgames, don't support them. But if someone else wants to let them keep doing what they are doing, who cares?

extra,

I have to support them, that is the problem. My taxes may go to fund the new stadium that the city built to lure the pro team. I like to run, so I have to pay an extra $50 for my shoes to cover an athletes $40 million endorsement contract. The same goes for my cereal, beer, clothes, etc.

I refuse to ever go to a pro sports event again. I still get plenty of enjoyment from a minor league game or a college football game. But I cannot get away from supporting these already overpaid athletes.
