Derek Boogaard RIP

Quite a shame. One of the toughest guys in the league, and from anything I've ever heard, a total class act too. Way too young - 28.
 
Damn, that's got me bummed out now. He was known as the most intimidating person to fight in the NHL.
 
Sux, but that much head trauma = CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) which means he could have been abusing drugs to cope. Wouldn't be surprising, just like the UPenn football player who killed himself.

The good news is that Mark Messier and his sister have a foundation/company where they're creating a new helmet that absorbs much more energy to take the brunt of the headshot off the brain.
