People will be upset whenever it happens so does it really matter when ?

That's a question that shouldn't even be asked. Not because the answer is scary, but because there is no answer. And that's the point.
When I get down and think of the future, I also feel like there's no point in going forward because I can't conceive (at that time) of any positive outcome of any avenues of my life.
But I tell myself that I am in a rut, and in I'm "due for an upswing" in life. And you know what? I usually am - I feel better in a day or two and then push forward.
You HAVE to internalize the fact that what you are going through is temporary, and that there are people worse off than you that push forward.
I honestly think that many Americans would be better off if they travelled to a third-world country like India (I use Sri Lanka as it is a country of my ancestry) and see how people are always smiling. According to YOUR standards, they should all kill themselves, but somehow, someway, they find something valuable enough in life to live, and...to smile even! Why?
Its because they've lived a tough life and learned early on that life is TOUGH. Its the fact that most of your life, I'm willing to bet, you haven't had to suffer an ounce of what these people suffer. Your "standards" of life are too high, and you are in a stage when you still haven't (1) accepted that life doesn't provide answers and guarantees and (2) life isn't something that you'll ever have the answer to.

right, you have alot - your wife, your house, and money - but none of it is precious to you. Somehow these things seem to have let you down, only because you created too much expectation in them as an avenue to make you happy. Tattoo this on your forehead:
I WILL NEVER FIND CONTENTMENT FROM EXTERNAL MEANS. CONTENTMENT AND PEACE COMES FROM LOOKING WITHIN.
Check out eastern religion (buddhism, taoism). They all advocate this principle, and I've come to realize that they've figured out life more so than most.
