Since I have not seen any thread on this, and is news worthy, figured I would hijack a link from out of another thread.

Depp won all filings, Heard won one. Her attorneys plan to appeal, but, I have seen this kind of relationship very closely, mostly with my son and my granddaughter's mother and step mother.

I have never found myself to be in a situation, where I felt the need to record it, if it was so intense that I would be fearful of my well being.

A man just won a defamation case against abuse, who may have been an alcoholic, drug using and destructive person. I am from Michigan, where the men don't get all too fair of a shot in "Friend of the Court"

I didn't really pay attention to any of this, but it seemed like a prime opportunity for the internet to release it's misogyny, and the trial itself seemed like it was forum shopping by the plaintiff to pick the most favorable state to sue in.

He came across like a walking disaster of a man, though. I wonder what the process was by which he got that way? Just the hazards of celebrity and the "situationally-acquired narcissism" that it brings? Or over-indulgence in alcohol?

yes, faked pretty much everything. she was a disaster on the witness stand as were most of the witnesses her legal team called. Depp is by no means an angel, but clearly the abused in this particular instance.

Anyway, the only really interesting piece of information here is that of the court of public opinion, cause with everything given from that trial, how can 99.8% of the public court be on team Depp?... that doesnt seem even remotely balanced.

Having ignored it for most of the time it was going on (two super-privileged people, both of whom seemed to be pretty messed-up, having a public row - I've got more pressing things to think about), now I think about it, it seems possible this verdict matters, regardless of one's opinion of Depp.

Maybe this article is correct that the real importance is over the wider topic of what can be said in the press about the rich and powerful. I've always thought the US was much better at that than the UK, where our libel laws have many times protected powerful figures and helped them get away with bad, even criminal, behavior (most infamously, Robert Maxwell). Not good if the US goes the same way as we have.

I thought everyone, (most everyone here) wanted Trump on record. You know to give actual testimony under oath.

That's all this man has done, was to put forward evidence of the truth, not trial by public opinion. He even stated as much.

Having been witness to and experienced female narcissism, that has turned my son into something he was never, I think it matters. It has taken My wife and I 4 LONG years to become guardians of our grandaughters. The men are not always the abusers.
