Depositing checks into an ATM?

ATMs are safe ... sometimes its alot easier than talking to one of the tellers (believe me, i use to work at B of A) i've deposited a $10,000+ once...no problems.

The ATM's that allow deposits (typically located at the bank itself) has envelopes available for deposits. You fill out your deposit slip, endorse all the checks, and stuff the envelope with that stuff. You use your ATM card to start a transaction and choose deposit. You type in the exact amount of the deposit (hopefully you remember it, if not you may have to open and reseal the envelope). The ATM prompts you for the envelope, which goes into a slot much like a dollar bill does at a soda pop machine. It sucks it in (hopefully you fed it with the arrow side up and pointed into the machine). You've made a deposit. It will be accredited to your account the next business day.

yeah... you have to endorse it i believe... i always do, w/ account number underneath or above my signature..

I guess it depends on whether your bank requires it or the issuer request it. If I receive a cheque that ask for a sig usually I'll put one but most time I wont put anything. Probably not a bad thing but face it who ever it opening the envelops on the other side could steal you cash to.

I've been depositing my paychecks for almost 5 years at a ATM, and have never once endorsed a check. Just put it into the envelope and hand down the chute.

OK, Thanks! - So it's basically the same thing as using a night deposit slot at the bank. Someone still has to manually enter the checks into your account. I thought the ATM was actually reading the check.

jeez guys, I expected one or two replies 🙂

I deposited them about 1/2 hour ago, now I'm rich 😀 😀

(hey, $845.70 is a lot to a college student!)
