can anyone explain to me why does my deodorant burns like heck when i put them on? I'm using old spice. I tried to change to a different brand (gellete?), the gel kind. it doesn't burn my pit but my pit feels like it's been superglued once they're dried. can anyone help?

Well if you shave your arm pits before you apply that stuff, it will burn.

Do you shave your pits? Seriously. You may just have sensitive skin. You may also be allergice to something in this new brand. I am allergic to several different kinds of deodorant. Unfortunately, the brands I am NOT allergic to, leave dark yellow stains on my Tshirts. Damn body chemistry. :|

I'm using old spice pure sport and I have never experienced any "burns" with any deoderant.

Sensitive skin maybe?

Shave? Not me. But about every 45-60 days, I use my clipper to knock the hair down to about 1/8" Hairy pits are nasty. When I do that, my pits get sensitive.

There are plenty of straight guys that shave plenty of areas on their bodies. Swimmers, body builders and guys that just hate being hairy. (me.)

it's getting off topic LOL. what are my alternatives?

I don't want to use gel.
only want to use deodorant, not anti-perspirant.

Spray. Or get a monthly deodorant shot.
You realize what you just posted, right Description?

pitt hair is nasty, I use the trimmer from the electric shaver on mine every 2 weeks.

The trick to not gettig it to burn is to trim it after you shower saturday night and then don't use deodarent until Monday morning.

I can't use any kind of dry/stick deodorant. It makes my skin crack and burn and hurt like hell. I have to use gel or spray.

And I don't shave my pitts.

There are several brands that burn me too, and I don't shave. Honestly, I use "Sure". . .

It keeps me dry, no yellow stains, and no burns. . .

I used to get some burns with a certain one I used to use... don't remember what it was but I just stopped using it and have been using Right Gaurd ever since. Just keep switching till you find one that you like.

I only experience burns with gel deodorants but ever sinced I switched to the gel solid from Old Spice I get these extremely sharp pains in my pitts every now and then. I dont wanna give up this deodorant because it works so good but even if I dont wear the deodorant I still get these sharp pains. Has this deodorant caused some sort of nerve damage because the pain doesnt feel like a burn its more like a stab or something.

Switch brands. My old brand gave me a rash, so I switched, all better. Wouldn't hurt to go without for a few days to let it heal up (except for the people around you).

Its weird cuz when I first started using it cold sweat would constantly drip from my arm pitts and run all the way as far as to my hand but it wouldnt smell or even stain, it was usually like 10 minutes after putting it on. This lasted for about a month and hasnt happened ever since, it was replaced with getting stabbed in the arm pitt out of nowhere at random times. It sux but maybe it could just be that it dries my pits out so much that my hairs are just pulling at eachother making it feel worse on the skin.
