Oh, I'm seeing it. It's cracked. Wonder how long ago they cracked it.

December 22nd is the date the crack was uploaded to a popular torrent site.

It's still a top 10 torrented game on that site currently.

I'll assume more and more people jump on it as news spreads. It's just more proof that launch day DRM doesn't do much. People simply way til it's cracked and download.
Users who preload a game so they can play it midnight at it's release are NOT the same as users who will wait for a game to be cracked and appear on their favorite torrent site.

Better regional pricing will have some effect though but in the end, you just annoy your end user with annoying DRM.

I'm hearing rumors of some annoying DRM being implemented into the PC version of GTA 5. Hoping it's not true.

Plus, it now has the Streisand Effect going for it, so it will probably be pirated more than if the DRM and cracking weren't news.

That's anti-tamper, not DRM :D

This new anti-piracy solution has been making waves lately for frustrating pirates. Just a few games have been using it, but so far, none of them have been cracked. Fifa 15, Lords of the Fallen, and now Dragon Age Inquisition.[/URL]

Yeah, keep saying that buddy. All of the above have been leaked a long time ago and pirated copies are very much playable.

it took a while for the other games and at least 1 month for DAI, and pirated copies have no multiplayer or custom world states (well, unless you use a save game with it, with the character already created)

No multiplayer is true of a LOT of pirated games. It's not something new.

People who pirate games aren't expecting it to fully work with every single feature.

Again, many of you guys are thinking of this like dedicated gamers. Majority of pirates aren't Day 1 players like lots of "Gamers". Most people I know who pirate don't care about when, they just play. They don't care about multiplayer, they just want the story. Custom World? That's not a big deal.

For a dedicated gamer who cares about all of those things, they PROBABLY BOUGHT THE GAME ALREADY. They had it preloaded ready to go at midnight.

Piracy isn't going to stop simply because a person doesn't get a "Custom world state". That matters to hardcore gamers who CARE about the series and actually give money to it.

When I pick this game up at the bargain bin, all of those features you mentioned will mean nothing to me.I don't have a finished game for my "Custom world state", I don't care about multiplayer in a game like this, and playing "late"(lol) means nothing to me as I'm not rushing to play this game to have a conversation about it with my friends.

custom world states is a big deal for this game,
unless you didn't play the previous Dragon Age games or don't care about how you played.

multiplayer is normally a very effective way of fighting piracy, now for this game in particular, obviously single player is the biggest selling point.

I don't know what custom worlds states are and I don't care about multiplayer. Stop telling other people what they should find important.

You probably purchased the game then...

Are you even hearing what I'm trying to explain? Pirates KNOW these features aren't going to work. It's not stopping them from pirating the game. Like I said, it's a top 10 pirated game right now.
Even with Denuvo, Multiplayer, and "Custom World States".

What I'm trying to explain is that these features matter to the core gamer base who already was going to purchase the game ANYWAY. pirates are used to these lack of features, no pirate is expecting 100% working Multiplayer on official servers.

Pouring more and more money into anti piracy features like Denuvo detracts from money that could be spent on game development and also doesn't stop people from pirating the game.
That's the point I'm making.

You are playing a game that is heavily dependent on lore from the other 2 and you won't really have a clue what is going on, nor will you be able to make your own decisions. You'll be stuck with an 70hr+ story that is meant to be about your choices yet you can't make them off the previous games. Auto kills the game.

Um..so you are saying unless you played completely through 1 and 2 this game has no meaning and not worth playing? Wrong. Good way to kill anyone buying future games from you if this was their first entry into the series.

custom world states is basically importing the choices you made on the 2 previous games, or creating a new state with other choices you wanna try and see how they affect this game,

You probably purchased the game then...

I'm not saying pirates expect multilayer or not, I'm just saying a game with multiplayer has an additional argument against pirated copies, but I don't see MP as a "core gamer" thing,

importing your old choices was possible on pirated DA2 and mass effect games, so the pirated copies are losing more this time; it could be enough to convince some people I think.

as for Denuvo, without knowing how much did it cost and how it affected sales during the first 2 or 3 weeks, it's hard to comment.

I didn't play the first games, so I'm treated like a pirate even if I bought the game apparently.

It won't convince anyone. If you were going to buy the game, you'd have bought it a month ago.

if you never played the previous games it's less important, but not completely useless, since you can customize the choices and see how they affect the game... and for people who played as I said, will probably use it to match the choices you've made on the previous games and explore the other options.

are you saying people only buy games at launch?
as I said, this game still offers advantages over the pirated copies, and I expect prices to go down at some point;

you may not care about this stuff, but I'm sure others will.

A few of you are really missing the point. He's referring to that not everyone cares about that stuff, especially the pirates.

I've seen a big demand for custom world state saves on reddit and nexusmods from people with a pirated copy.

Its correct. You have a character dropping in from 2 that has deep history with one of your party and parts of the lore directly reference 1. This is III after all. Play it and you will miss the nuances, you may not care, but that is because you missed the first 2. You'll have backstory either way that will just mystify you. Then again, you'll probably be playing this on some Core 2 crapbox that looks worse than next gen consoles so its really moot. Meh.

Trust me, it'll be ok w/o them. The percentage of people who kept their save games from way back then, or even remember everything about those games is small. I'd venture if they have their saves they are obsessed or still playing on a Core 2. Most people didn't even finish 2. Pretty sure 3 will be fine w/o those fine grain details.

Fun fact: I own 3 (for free), but never finished one, never played 2, and probably won't ever get around to playing this one.

well, now I understand why you don't care about it.

trust me, a lot of people actually play the games and finished the games, and care about the choices made (using a Core 2 or 5960X); custom world state is a big thing to be missing for many players, being the ones inclined to always pirate or not, unless you are new to the series or past generation of Bioware games.

90% of people playing the game haven't played the first ones. Get over yourself. You're not special.

do you realize the first game sold something like 4mi, not to mention piracy which was pretty high, and the second one while selling less still did ok...

I think you are forgetting when the first one came out and how abysmal the second one was. The point is lots of people who never played the first (and maybe not the 2nd) will get this game. The idea that if they didn't play them they will be completely lost is just nonsense. The game was never a trilogy (ala ME).
