I got sick within the last couple of days, pretty runny nose, ect.

Well, under my tongue, I've developed a large white almost zit like thing that is really quite sore (It appeared Saturday). I've been trying to read up on what It might be and if I should be going to the dentist/doctor to get it removed.

I don't have a camera, the only way I can see it is if I rotate my tongue to the hard left and move it out of the way. The bump is fairly large and basically developed overnight.

I've looking into it possibly being a salivary gland stone. However, it isn't in the normal spot (right beneath the tongue, those two openings are fine). When I look in the same area on the other side of the tongue, I can't see a gland opening, So I don't know if that is it or not.

So again. It looks like a zit. (Fairly big as well)
towards the back and bottom of the tounge.
I can't tell if it is a gland opening or not.

Do you think it will clear up or not. I don't think it is life threatening, and it looks NOTHING like the cancer photos that I've seen.

As well, the pain doesn't seem any better/worse before/while eating (when the salivary glands should be producing) and I don't taste anything bitter or out of the normal in my mouth.

So do I need to get this checked out?

It's likely a canker sore. They can hurt like hell. A dentist or hygenist will recommend an oral analgesic like Anbesol, but those can rinse off and will only deaden the pain.

It sounds like an old wive's tale, but putting Alum (find it in the spice aisle at the grocery store) directly on it works really well. It dries the sore out and makes it run it's course much faster.

I don't think that it is a canker sore, (though I do get them at times), It is quite a bit bigger then the normal canker sore is, and not in the same spot. (Though, I could be wrong).

I guess, though, that there really isn't anything preventing it from being one, it just seams unusual if that is really what it is. I guess I'll give it a few more days to see if it changes.

I might have gotten something like that before.

Is it painful if you run the tip of your tongue on it?

I just pop it and while it hurts like hell an hour or so later it feels normal with no pain at all.

This is by no means a medical recommendation but for me popping it is instant relief.

I can't run the tip of my tongue on it. It is towards the back of my mouth on the bottom of my tongue. If I twist my tongue around, it does hurt.
