Dentist. Like to go or hate to go?

How do you feel about going to the dentist?

  • I don't mind it.

  • I'll never go back. The place is worse than Hell.

I'm a wuss when it comes to going to the dentist. I hate that needle the most. I had an extraction done today for a broken molar. That sucked.

what's your thought on the dental visit?

I haven't been to the dentist since I had my last baby tooth pulled. I remember not being particularly thrilled about it.

I don't mind it.. I like knowing my teeth are getting taken care of.

I was a dental assistant for a couple of years though so nothing is shocking to me.

Indifferent. Does not bother me and I am fully covered through insurance, so I just lay back and watch TV until they are done.

I used to not like going to the dentist. Then I had to get a crown. Then I realized that it was better to go to the dentist and get cleanings and checkups and a possible cavity then have to get a crown again.

used to hate it, switched to a new office closer to work and dont mind going at all now. they're prompt, genuinely nice and knowledgeable. i will admit for whatever reason i had an irrational fear with no basis for it. other than checkups/cleaning, ive never had to have any dental work done.

Haven't went in way too long, need to go... don't dread it, but yea it's not something i get all excited about doing

Only Bill Murray likes going to the dentist.

I don't mind going, because it's better than the alternative. I'm trying to avoid getting any more money from the nerve ending fairy.

Hate is not *nearly* strong enough a word. Hate is several orders of magnitude lower than whatever word it is I'm looking for.

I haven't been to a dentist in 7 years -- on that trip, he said that I would need to have my wisdom teeth extracted within 6 months or so. I still haven't. I've *never*, ever, not once, been to any facility specializing in oral care, that has been even remotely friendly. I can't blame them -- they need to have a personality that is completely opposite mine. I hate them, but they'd damn well better be the friendliest people on earth. Note that I'm not talking about being talkative. There's a HUGE FUCKING DIFFERENCE between being friendly and being talkative. :|

Also, I'd rather be thrown into an isolation cell with a group of murderers, immediately after they were informed that I'd raped their mothers. Seriously. Rape, beating, being tortured within an inch of my life would be better.

So you'd rather endure "Rape, beating, being tortured within an inch of my life" than being around someone who's not friendly?

I distinctly remember my last dentist appointment resulting in a "I just got raped by the Dentist" thread

Love it. You feel great after.

Edit: hardest part is having a very attractive female cleaning my teeth. Her knee is on me! What am I supposed to be thinking of? Babies. Old people.

"Babies. Think of a baby. Think of an old person. A baby. A lizard. Lizards. A spider. Spiders and lizards. An old man."

i'm going to love it come monday, which was the first endodontist appt i could get to have a cap pulled off to see what evil is lurking underneath... it is already hurting enough that no chewing is going on on that side...

I like my dentist and trust the cuss. He's very friendly and personable, and I like his staff, all of them (all women). Well, one time I think he maybe wasn't so great but generally I've had such great luck with him I have ultimate trust in him. Go every 6 months, and hardly ever get cavities any more. I am not the least bit nervous about the appointments.
