Fry's B&M (Chicago, don't know about rest of country) has the Denon AVR-591 for $199.

Amazon typically has this for $349, occasionally I've seen around $300.

From what I can tell last years model (AVR 590) clearance prices are around $250.

Edit: From posts I've seen on AVSForum, it looks like this is available in multiple markets. Also
if you try to look this product on FRY's Internet site, it is not listed, but they definitely have it in
the stores.

I have this HT RXer and love it. The only think I would tell you to be slightly wary about is if you have more then one non-hdmi thing you need to upgrade to the 791 or another brand. All I had was a Wii for non-hdmi and my kid got a free PS2 this killing my one cable to the TV clean look. Either way great price, I own two other Denon products, excellent quality stuff.

I take it you mean more than one HDMI output as there are 4 HDMI inputs.

I know this is only 1 model above their entry level product.

For this price, I'd be willing to put up with small shortcomings like that.

HOT.

Super hot. It's "low-end" but still has Audyssey MultEQ (unlike the 2EQ for Onkyo's comparable products) and more power than any non-Elite Pioneer or Yamaha under a couple of grand. You have to go to near $500 to really step up from this.

Only problem is the horrible manual, but that's what the Denon-English Dictionary is for.

Thanks, as a noob I didn't want to over hype one of my first posts. I originally was looking at a Onkyo 508 but then found out about Audyssey limitations. I've already found batpig over at AVSforum so I'm good to go

Denon deals like this are as rare as hen's teeth and they are most welcome here. No need to be shy.

I've read some reports of this model having HDMI handshake issues with Samsung TVs on AVS Forum. Can anyone here confirm or deny?

Denon has had handshake issues for a long time. My Denon AVR 4306, one of the first models with HDMI, does not properly handshake with my Sony XBR2, and I therefore have to run many of my video devices directly to my TV. From what I've read, they haven't solved the problem on their newer models. I personally wouldn't buy a Denon again, although they do have excellent sound quality.

with what i am reading here...getting this for a lady-friend to use as a hub for a computer based entertainment center with two large LCD as monitors/tvs might be a mistake? i was hoping to hook up the computer to this to give her a great way to watch shows AND have a huge monitor.

Wouldn't that still be doable, as this receiver has 1 composite video input, 1 s-video input, and 1 component video input? You can get a component video cable for the Wii for under $10 at Meritline (I got mine there for $6.49 shipped), which gets you better image quality than the composite cable anyways.

Anyone know if the composite video and s-video inputs are shared on the AVR-591? (i.e. you can use either, but not both)

I've had no handshake issues with my 591 and Samsung TV, or any other issues for that matter. Very nice receiver. $200 is a darn good deal.
