Dennis Prager is involved in the controversy of a Muslim using the Koran to take the oath of office for the Congress.
This is what Prager wrote: ""He [Ellison] should not be allowed to do so -- not because of any American hostility to the Koran, but because the act undermines American civilization"

Now, I never heard of Prager and was wondering who he was and what he stands for.
So I checked wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Prager

He is consistent supporter of President George W. Bush, whom he frequently describes as "great," and whom he claimed on his radio show had been specifically chosen President though the direct intervention of God.
President Bush appointed Prager to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.

Is it any wonder George Bush is living in a fantasyland? First he had to be shown a large amount of videos to convince him there actually was a problem in New Orleans because he refused to believe it. Then he decides Harriet Meiers is somehow qualified for the Supreme Court. And Meiers has said Bush is the smartest man alive! And Bush couldn't understand that most people in the country thought her appointment was absurd.
The whole Iraq Study Group seems to have been designed to tell Bush in no uncertain terms that things are going badly in Iraq.
I have come to the conclusion that Bush is really living in some kind of fantasyland where he sees things and believes things that no rational person could.
Whether its because he surrounds himself with people who think he was chosen as President by God, or whether its just because he is delusional, its dangerous.
I wonder if Bush could pass a mental competency exam?

I don't know how you can form an opinion of somebody based on their Wiki article... but I am a frequent listener to Prager's radio show, and he is by far one of the most open minded, logical, and fair debators on the air. He bases his beliefs on his religion, but does not simply sit around talking about how great his religion is. It's quite a shame there aren't more radio or TV personalities like him.

?Those who believe in nothing are very, very jealous and angry at those who believe in something.?

He got that one backwards

"If Keith Ellison is allowed to change that, he will be doing more damage to the unity of America and to the value system that has formed this country than the terrorists of 9-11."

My, my, my. If he was any more tolerant, he'd implode.

"It is not I, but Keith Ellison, who has engaged in disuniting the country. He can still help reunite it by simply bringing both books to his ceremonial swearing-in. Had he originally announced that he would do that, I would have written a different column -- filled with praise of him. And there would be a lot less cursing and anger in America."

Well, I guess he's just really not tolerant after all, is he? Just another typical rwingnut gasbag.

"I am a non-Christian. Am I bigoted against myself as a Jew? I happen to be one of the most active individuals in American Jewish life and co-author of probably the most widely used English-language introduction to Judaism of the last 30 years."

Keep tooting your own horn there, Prager. Not only gasbag but a pompous and ignorant one at that.

"Just as many liberals and secularists can only imagine a religious person being brainwashed, not a liberal or a secular one, they likewise can only imagine religious extremism, never secular extremism. One can easily be too religious, but never too secular. Yet, we have far more secular extremism than religious extremism in our society."

Yeah, all those secular extremists forcing the gov't into our bedrooms, spying on our phone conversations, forcing kids to endure abstinence-only sex-ed, forcing women into back-alleys for abortions, shoving fantasies like Creationism into Science textbooks.

Oh wait....

Now, how much has Prager talked about that little document called The Constitution. You know, that piece of paper that's been shat upon by Repubs for the last 6 years. That document that ALL members of Congress and the President swear to protect and uphold. Not some piece of fiction written 2000 years ago.

Be sure to add Conjur that the biggest travesty of justice, the Patriot Act was approved by EVERYONE. Republicans and Democrats alike. Listening to the debates when Kerry and Bush BOTH SUPPORTED it led to my vote for Badnarik who was for getting rid of it immediately.

We really need to be careful in this country. The Republicans are not the bad guys and the Democrats are not the Good guys and definitely not vice versa either. They are all for themselves. Not for you and not for me. Until campaign finance reform is addressed and we overhaul the entire education system so people are literate enough to read and care about the real issues it is pretty much a non factor wouldn't you agree?

Let's keep that in mind when we have these discussions shall we?

So stop proving his point :)

Ha! Finally someone who gets it! Most Democrats (and certainly all who are in Congress), are about as slimy, greedy, cowardly and incompetent as the Repugnants. Maybe a different shade of greed and cowardice, but about the same, anyway.

Seems like he doesn't have much to talk about then or certainly not much that an informed person would find worthy of considering.

Let me put it this way... he bases his ethical and moral beliefs on his religion.

And like all the other relgious whackos, he believes that his religion is the only true religion. Yeah, he's real open-minded.
