*Waves cane. Damn kids, get off my lawn!!*:|

Finally getting one. The price was right.

This RCA 0.7 Cu. Ft. microwave features 10 power levels, 700 Watt, auto defrost, express cooking, digital LED display, 6 one touch cooking menus, digital kitchen timer and removable glass turntable

Also ordered a new toaster as my 25yo one's elements are barely heating now.

The microwave is for my TV dinners as some brands (e.g. Michelina) have changed their cartons and you no longer can place them in the gas oven. Someone gave me a microwave a few years ago but it was a huge thing that I never used so I gave it back after a few months.

Total with taxes and delivery is $88.88 so I think it's a good price.:)

Aside from my hearty congratulations that you've entered the microwave age, are you really a frenchman?

Do you eat frogs legs and snails? Quaff wine? Exclaim 'zut alors!'? Surrender on a regular basis? Eat wild boar?

;)

700 watts is a joke of a Microwave.

You will not be happy because you are seriously under powered.

That's a mighty long walk. If I add up the price of taking the bus there and a taxicab to come back, it comes almost the same as having the items delivered to my door.

And yes, Dug, I'm French-Canadian. Love snails and say zut occasionally.

Entering the microwave era is kinda like something being hailed as space age... ergo, it's at least a few decades too late. As such, the failed promise of the gadget should be readily apparent to even the most rabid consumer zombie and should therefore be eschewed, in my humble opine.

The dedicated toaster I can understand for restaurants or perhaps families of toasted bread junkies versus making use of an existing oven.

Don't get me started on electric can openers. :p

I couldn't live without a microwave. I'm lazy and when i'm hungry i want it now, not in 30 minutes.

That said, 700 watts? WEAK.

Handy microwave tip #1 of 100, collect them all!

If you like oatmeal for breakfast instead of snails or poutine, the microvwave is a good way to fix it.

Use quick or instant oatmeal and you can cook it right in a microwave-safe bowl.

Handy microwave tip #2 of 100, collect them all!

Microwave popcorn is tasty, but don't go away while it cooks -- burnt popcorn releases a deadly wave of toxic smoke. Zut alors!

It's not comparable due to the usual trade-offs in taste, texture, consistency, &c. for the quickness.

Microwave popcorn is merde. It loses on taste, smell, health, cost and even convenience compared to simply throwing kernels in a pot with oil for a minute (after pre-heating). The quantity and ingredients are up to you.

You missed the part where i said i'm lazy...and that means i really don't care about the texture, taste or consistency in the food i'd cook in the microwave. I'm not saying i don't cook things on the stovetop when i can, but if it's something as simple as pizza rolls or a tv dinner or something? Microwave 100% of the time. Frozen pizza? Gets the oven, it's only 10 minutes for that.

Right. See, I didn't even consider fre-fab crap. I suppose the potential quality/edibility reduction is limited so ya may as well nuke it. I'd rather not eat than eat crap when I don't have to (i.e. not literally starving).

For those saying it's weak... couldn't you just put it in for a longer period of time to make up for the lack of power?

And i wouldn't consider putting anything but that type of crap in the microwave...thus why i couldn't live without one...cause i don't care enough to cook anything 90% of the time.
