Dems plug more equitable wealth distribution, does GOP even give that lip service?

I'm curious about this. Clinton and certainly Sanders talk about this, it's been a big part of the Democratic discussion. Does the GOP talk similarly... at all? I presume some of them at least give it some lip service. Instead I have the impression they are largely in the large corporations' pockets, fighting global warming abatement initiatives, fighting environmental protection measures, fighting immigration restriction relaxation measures, fighting Planned Parenthood, attacking Hillary Clinton on any front where they can see an inroad to developing doubt.

The only lip service they give it is to blame the current inequality on Obama. Meanwhile they actively attack and block any policies proposed to combat it.

Hillary Clinton's top donors:

https://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.php?cid=N00000019&cycle=Career

All of whom have been making bank from the Feds ZIRP. And remind me again what party is in the White House.... the same White House who has overseen one of the most lopsided wealth distribution changes in recent memory.

How many of those donations are from the current election cycle? Very few I bet. Wall Street hates the democrats now, ever since Dodd-Frank.

Not to mention she was a senator from New York and those companies are based in New York.

If you think Wall Street donations are a good metric though, let's revisit this later. You might not like what you see.

I see where you are going... but for me I don't care if it is D or R next to a candidates name. How could one support a candidate whose sole interest is "repay" large corporate donors? This is why Trump is so popular. I don't think he would make a good president... but a lot of people see him as someone who do his own thing and not what wall street dictates.

Those people don't realize that Donald Trump is basically Wall Street. Instead of electing politicians beholden to billionaires, just cut out the middleman and elect the billionaire directly. Sounds like a good plan.

Well I suppose if you get the bulk of your news from the Daily Show you would hold this view.

Forget the fact that Obama nominated Yellen. Forget QE, forget zero interest rates, none of this had any effect on the stock market. Forget the fact that a large percentage of stocks are in the hands of a smaller percentage of the population. The daily show told me otherwise and none of this has to do with obama. It is all Bush and the Koch brothers!!!!!!!

So when inflation is too low as it is you recommend raising interest rates? When the economy was sputtering you think QE was a bad idea? Should we have just let the economy completely crater?

Eh except Donald rarely if ever invested in wall street.

And is there really a difference between billionaire and hundreds of millionaire? If wealth is now a negative for a leader. Hillary should also be off the checklist of people to elect.

Banks don't like low interest rates, as they compress their earnings.

Eski be honest the Clintons & Wall Street have a long and comfortable relationship. Banks don't like Dodd-Frank bit they prefer that to an entirely new plan. They also are very comfortable with Hillary and a Republican congress.

Banks and hedge funds do not like Dodd-Frank one bit. Look at what happened after it was introduced as a bill (December 2009)

I would say she's friendlier to Wall Street than Obama is, but she's much, much less friendly to Wall Street than any plausible Republican nominee.

No, CATO just published an article that calls for elimination of EITC.
http://www.cato.org/publications/ta...-income-tax-credit-small-benefits-large-costs
Indeed, the best long-term solution would be to end the EITC, while also cutting other welfare programs and the payroll tax. At the same time, policymakers should pursue policies to boost wages and increase job growth. For example, cutting the corporate income tax rate would boost business capital investment. That would generate higher demand for labor, and thus raise wages and create more opportunities for American workers over time.
The right is still doubling down on trickle down, even though we have seen the results of 35 years of trickle down already. But these people don't learn, they believe.

WTF? I think he's a dipshit, but Trump didn't make his money off Wall Street, he made it through real estate.

That's why I said basically. I know he made his money in real estate, but I'm sure he has plenty of LTCG income.

After being actively engaged in this forum for 14+ years, here's how far I've come to finally admit to myself what the True Believers have evolved into. It's funnier still when you realize that that's a pic of them looking into a mirror asking that same question over and over and over again:

So when are you going to blame Obama for anything?

Or are you just a True Believer?

And... Duh-vert!

Repubs discuss inequality with attitudes, platitudes, accusations & head in the sand Denial.

Bootstraps! Revered Job Creators! Lazy mooching Welfare Queens! Shiftless inner city Blacks! Kick out illegals so Americans can have those really shitty jobs! Just say no to birth control for poor people! Move to North Dakota where there are plenty of jobs!

Basically, its reads like this- I got mine, so the rest of you should just fuck off & die. Quietly, of course.

I think that really needs more Benghazi, the right wing political equivalent of Frank's Redhot Sauce. They put that shit on everything.

It's not the job of government to "distribute" wealth, try earning your own money for once.
