But oh yeah... We're going to get that minimum wage increase. Yippie. Nice to see they are working on the really important stuff.

It is to small business, they are holding their budgets waiting to see if they need to replace their cashiers, packers, delivery people ect with machines.

Right . . . the previous excuse was that changing the minimum wage doesn't change anything b/c few people actually get the minimum. I guess that talking point is being retired like 'stay the course' in favor of the Chicken Little approach.

On a positive note, at least the House GOP is moving quickly on the really imporant stuff.

Actually that ws MY argument. Genx87 has been consistant in his views that MW increases hurt small business.

Well I have yet to see a GOP campaign promise fulfilled. All I see are a bunch of neo-cons fighting for the lives of the ultra-rich and brain dead, leaving the rest of us to fend for ourselves. *shrugs*

And so it begins, the dems don't fulfill their campaign promises and the Dems keep pointing towards the GOP saying "well they did this, they didnt do that, wah wah wah, blah blah blah".

And so it continues! Democrats haven;t taken over yet and the Republicans who are in power continue to blame Democrats for every false step the Republicans make.

Why don't we wait and see. You know at the 101st hour of Congress see exactly what has been done and what hasn't been done. Try it isn't that hard. You might even like it! But you probably don't have the patience.

This isn't a Republican false step. This one is pure D. And why wait for the first 100 hours? They're not even in control yet and they're already backpedaling.

You're as partisan as anyone else in P&N, obviously. Which campaign promises have the "Dems" not fulfilled, during their majority rule of the House and Senate?

"I don't think that suggestion is going anywhere," said Rep. C.W. Bill Young (R-Fla.),

Uh, the Dems are not backpedaling. This whole thread is about what a Republican THINKS the Dems are GOING to do.

Yep- a simple case of the usual false attribution from the right fringe. First, that the intelligence "reform" was the "#1" campaign promise, when it was not, and second, that its demise is a done deal, when Dems haven't even had their chance...

Nice bit of agitprop, though- as if repubs haven't had the power to implement such changes during their tenure at the top. If this really mattered so much, why didn't they do it themselves, when they had years of opportunity? Too busy with Schiavo and other panderings, I guess...

Somebody's talking out of both sides of their mouth simultaneously... not that the intended loyalist audience would have a chance of noticing.

When did any politician start telling the truth?

We had enough of the Republicans cheating us so we decided that we needed the Dems to cheat us for awhile.

Pelosi strongly backed Murtha for House majority leader, only to see him soundly defeated by Rep. Steny H. Hoyer (Md.). That chain of events made it difficult for her to ask Murtha, a longtime ally, to relinquish control of the intelligence budget from his consolation prize, the chairmanship of the Appropriations defense subcommittee, according to Democratic sources.

I liked this part of the article. Pelosi doesn't want to make a change because it might hurt Murtha's feelings.

Sounds more like she doesn't want to lose him as an ally. If you had just been defeated in a major election that you thought you were likely to win and then had your fallback position's powers taken away from you, you probably wouldn't feel too amicable towards the person taking those powers away.

If we humans could overcome our pride, we'd eliminate so many of the problems we have. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. Pelosi recognizes that fact and, while it's "breaking the Dems campaign promise", it potentially avoids division and conflict down the road. Then again, maybe Murtha would accept the loss of powers without getting all pouty. I don't really know.

The article does say for now, so it is not with 100% certainty that the Dems will not revisit this topic.

I'm waiting for the right to start advertising their "Had enough of the Dems yet?" campaign...should start any day now given the screeching from the peanut gallery here.

Well Sherman I see you asked Mr. Peabody to take you forward in the Wayback machine and you have now seen the future.

Yep, let's blame the Republicans, just like the Republicans blame Clinton....oops, Republicans are not allowed to blame Clinton. sorry.

I don't really see why any of you are taking sides on this. Republican or Democrat, if (it is still an 'if') promises are being broken you all need to speak up. Amazing how programmed the majority of you seem to be into the partisan BS that you immediately leap to "but the Republicans did THIS!" idiocy.
