WOW, this could be a BIG win for democrats, no more needing to work with republicans.

They can't pour the champagne yet, but Democrats dreaming of controlling a supermajority of both legislative houses can unpack the bottle this morning.

Assembly Speaker John A. Perez declared Tuesday night that Democrats had secured two-thirds of the seats in the lower house, and trends in the Senate appeared to be following suit early this morning.

Entering Election Day needing two additional Senate seats to achieve a supermajority, Democrats were leading in four of five key districts: Fran Pavley led by 4 percentage points in District 27, with 97 percent of precincts counted; Richard Roth by 8 percentage points, District 31, 48 percent of precincts counted; Marty Block, 14 percentage points, District 39, 100 percent of precincts; and Hannah-Beth Jackson by 10 percentage points, District 19, 100 percent of precincts.

The key Senate race in which a Republican led early this morning was a nailbiter, with Bill Berryhill edging Cathleen Galgiani in a San Joaquin County-based district. The margin was 51 percent to 49 percent, with 100 percent of precincts counted.

Seems like the redistricting really worked in the democrats favor. The republicans worst nightmare after the new maps were shown seems to have come true.

I think this is the best thing to happen for CA. Democrats will have nobody to blame but themselves.

Great, great news. California needs to move closer to one-party rule.

Your completely dysfunctional current arraignment has been working out so well for you so far. Seems people are tired of Republican obstructionism gridlock.

Now if we could only get our federal government to accomplish anything.

Mine? I don't live in California, and have never lived there. I don't plan on living there any time soon either. But I do enjoy my occasional visits - it's a beautiful state.

As for "accomplishing things", be careful what you wish for. Bush "accomplished things", most of which turned into a series of disasters. I'm more of a fan of gridlock these days.

We'll see the opposite in Wisconsin; the Republicans took majority control in the state Senate.. giving them one-party rule of Wisconsin.

I actually fins it funny that people here still fall for the CA Demos blamingnrhe CA Reps even for the last few years. The Republican party in California is token at best and they are constantly left out of important decisions made in assembly and legislature. They're a patsy for the Dems And they will still find a way to blame them. It works because everyone is down to blame someone else instead of take their own responsibility. Unabashed sympathetic socialism is bringing about the death of personal responsibility in this nation, that and allowing entities to be treated as people.

They can't be that right-wing - Wisconsin went for Obama by a 7 point gap.

Hah that will be a fun experiment.

Yea....

When shit hits the fan (like it does reguardless who has power or whatever)
now they won't have anyone to blame. I dont know if this can really be counted on as a win for the Democrats.

Sometiems it is better to have an annoying scapegoat, than full control.

This way, the Dems can screw up the state finances even worse.

Increase taxes and fees enough to cover the deficit in the budget.

then since the budget is stable; let the people find more spending to do, funding for such is easy now that the blockage is gone.

I'm sure they'll still find a Republican to blame, even if they have to import one from Georgia.

I realize that, but it remains a fact that one-party rule invariably results in disaster.

You act like the illusion of two isn't in reality one, different heads of the same hydra. Democrat and republican supporters are all fucking tools and idiots.

Its amazing how so many people dont realize this. Both support Wall Street and the Military Industrial Complex

Good, hopefully CA and WI both stay this way. That way we will have documented proof in a few years just which party is actually full of shit and which party is incorrectly diagnosed as full of shit.

It will take at least 4 years for the effects/impact to be felt/seen

Awesome!! Maybe between Feds and Cali they can tax my income a full 50% and bump sales tax a nice round 10%. That way I can at least "keep" 40% of my money...until I die, then they can tax it again.

LOL, so sad but true. We are going to be at 8.625% sales tax here in San Jose starting in January. Why not just bump it up to an even 10% :D

No, what I mean is, the election yesterday gives Republicans majority control in both the legislative and executive branches of WI government.
