Democrats do it better

to become what they claimed to have despised.

Basically they railed against extending voting time limits and passed rules to prevent it, well now they are doing it themselves and hemming and hawing when cornered on it.

oh, and pelosi gets to see that being Queen doesn't mean you'll get your own way. Far too many conservatives are in her party and they don't necessarily agree with the liberal side on all issues. Once in power they realized they had something to bargain with

So I see the Dems might have extended the vote time, but have they actually done it? No, it appears they have not. Get back to us when they do and we can all wail and gnash our teeth over obscure Senate rules.

Then
"They ought to be ashamed of themselves, but when it comes to holding votes open and twisting the arms of their own members they clearly have no shame,?? he went on. ?These back-alley tactics have no place in the greatest deliberative body in the world. They might be the lifeblood of the tin-horn dictator, but not a world leader. It's an embarrassment.?
Now
Asked Wednesday night whether Democrats would keep to the time limit, Hoyer paused, then pointed out that many votes can run a few minutes longer for various reasons. Pressed further by a reporter who pointed out that Democrats themselves had often criticized Republicans on this very point, Hoyer said, "It won't be open three hours. How about that?"

"How about 30 minutes?" the reporter asked.

"I won't guarantee it," Hoyer replied.

All this over a few minutes in voting? There are bigger and better things to be concerned about.

As the democrats begin proving to everyone that they are no better than their republican brethren who ran the show before them, is anyone TRULY surprised?

Can you point me to a vote where it has run overtime? No, I bet you can't. And still you've lept to your predictable conclusion just like the OP. Turn your brains back on, gents. It makes you look a little loony to be complaining about something that hasn't happened yet.

The democrats have a very looooooooooooooong road ahead of them to even get close to as bad as the republican rubber stamp congress's of the past six years.

We finally have a new Sheriff in town trying to restore constitutional government. The new Sheriff may not be perfect---but its still a heck of a lot better than what we had. Politics is never pretty---but its still the process by which things get done----and our now thin skinned and embattled commander and thief is playing politics also---or have you critics complaining about the new congress failed to notice that fact also.

If we are going to complain about politics---lets be fair and balanced. Face the facts---you critics were silent when the Repubs were dishing it out---and now when you have to eat some of the same---you squeal like stuck pigs. While being silent on the outrageous political tactics of GWB&co going on at the same time you try to focus on only the dems.

Neither, grab a scrub brush and purge the nation of its political parties.

Heh, a rare but true moment of agreement with Jask here 🙂

you obviously didn't live through the 70s to the early 90s where they were the only game in town and taught the republicans everything about corruption as well as they could.

As for the new sheriff in town, the Democrats protect the Constitution? HAHAHAHA Did you actually write that with a straight face?

We are being fair, the shoe is on the other foot, your just not ready for the fact that the Democrats are just as much slimeballs the Republicans are. Hell they are same damn thing, politicians FIRST.

Your the one squealing... whats next, call anyone who points out Democrats being politicians a NAZI? C'mon, you know you want to call those of us who think both parties suck.

Still, to be stupid enough to think they would be better? Damn, thats really amazing. I don't think my 4 year old nephew would fall for that.

Sounds good---I'll drink to that---but how are you going to do it?

There really isn't a word in the constitution that refers to political parties---but we had them forming up at the dawn of our history---and as for any allegation that the the now deposed republican congress learned it from the democrats in the 1960's and on until they were tossed out in 1994---those lessons were already written in stone 100's and perhaps thousands of years before.

It ain't ever pretty folks---but politics is how things get done by groups of people---its a people thing and you to some extent--have to look at the end product.---and right now---the main distaste is coming from a Republican President---in the fullness of time---that will change and new characters may become the main problems---but we must focus on NOW---and clean up the stench at its present main source.---and trust that politics is a never ending battle that somehow blunders through. With politics being both the cause and cure to corruption.

While the Democrats have not yet approached the kind of sleaze-baggery that the Republicans managed over the last six years, I won't be surprised if they do, especially if they keep both houses and get a democratic president in 2008.

It is disheartening to see democrat supporters blindly defending every action, just like the republican supporters did for so long. It reminds me of the 'striped vision cats' experiment. One group seems incapable of seeing corruption from republicans, the other from democrats. And the result is you can never get a useful majority of the people to see the corruption at the same time, so it never ends.

He's overstating the facts, but there's nothing wrong with pointing this out. We had the same thing in Canada - a new government elected on a platform of accountability that has turned out to be anything but accountable.

BTW Shiv, we're kind missing your input on those environmentally awesome hummers in your other thread😉

F'n crickets ...

There is no excuse for a GOP-style Medicare vote to EVER take place again. I doubt the Democrats will do it b/c it makes no sense. The bill won't pass the Senate and if it did, the Turd King will not sign it.

The primary reason Pelosi is in a crunch is that the 'fly way left' wing of the party calls itself being 'principled' by not voting for further war funding. Naturally, all of them represent districts that are Liberal locks. The sentiment is good but from a practical standpoint SOME kind of funding bill for the FUBAR Bush Wars will pass. Their current stance is only good for sticking a finger in Pelosi's eye socket.

As for the OP . . . unless this vote occurs at 2AM and voting his held open for 12 hours . . . the GOP still holds the record for public debasement of our republican form of government.

this particular issue is not the point, as their going overtime on a vote would just be one more example of their equally corrupted agenda.

face the facts Dealmonkey: they're ALL scum.

:beer:here is to Obama, or some other rookie, resisting the urge to become just another scumsucking political douchebag!

What has the new government of Canada not been accountable about? Name three things.

OMFG! So despite not actually doing what you're accusing them of doing, they're still guilty? Oh man, trying to get my head around that logic. 😕
