Now, is that any way to have a fruitful debate?

What debate are you seeking?

Care to answer, or are you spent...

You two could debate who is responsible for running this country in to the ground, the choices are the leftist congress or this socialist president.

The choices are the past neocon president or the yes men congress that agreed with his every move for 6 years straight years and vise versa. See how that works. Bush ballhugging musn't be paying as much as it used to. The quality of your posts lately would indicate you can only afford the cheap beer now  ...

No, no, no.... This is about PJABBER wanting a debate, so, let us not be sidetracked....

/let's debate....

Well now, that is likely an OT question but since you brought it up, I consider Maker's Mark an excellent every day sippin' bourbon.

The nose has subtle hints of fruit and caramel, anticipating the sweetness you will find in the first sip.

The palette adds a deep molasses element and no hint of bitterness. The short and sweet finish is smooth and almost too abrupt.

It is a simple but pleasant whiskey, one where you know what to expect and won?t feel too challenged. Think of it like a comfort food, a trusty old friend, if you will.
(Just like AT P&N!)

Maker's Mark Review

But for those special occasions, it is worth indulging in the variety to be found in this All American drink. There are any number of quality small batch bourbons to be found if, and only if, you still have money left over after the Democrats' taxing plans come about. Pay your rent or mortgage and your kids' schooling costs first!

Not a comprehensive list, but not a bad way to stimulate the economy with some slow savoring pleasure -

Dalmore 50 Year Original Bottling (if you have any and are willing to share, you can be a friend for life)
Springbank 21 (Corrugated Label Original Bottling)
A. H. Hirsch (Michters) 20 Year
Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel

Most "Bottled In Bond" older bourbons are worth at least trying. Like after an hour or so of doing the P&N thing.

Lets cut to the chase, the PJABBER contention is that the GOP will be able to stop democratic reforms in a wide variety of areas, and the alternate hypothesis is that the GOP will fail at stopping democratic reforms. So in a sense, either the GOP or democratic strategies will backfire depending on end results.

Since the jury is still out on the question, I think I will wait for the end results rather than claim results not yet in evidence.

And I wonder what PJAB will say if results prove him to be FOS.

My contention is that the Democrats are their own worse enemies, not the Republicans for whom I couldn't give a rat's ass.

If you've noticed many of us who were never enthralled with the last administration are concerned by the same smoke and mirror tactics used with Iraq and now UHC. Don't give specifics, make broad generalizations etc.

Well to quote the last guy, fool me once... we won't get fooled again.

No concrete plan, no support. Blaming the Reps? Sure, go ahead because this is all about politics, not health care. Another reason to distrust DC.

The Republicans have no real plan for health care reform because they prefer the status quo.

And why the hell do people dilute good whiskey with water or ice? If you're not man enough to drink it straight, have a wine spritzer or some such.

Ha ha, you are right! I never used water with good whiskey until a couple of years ago when I was in Edinburgh. I was doing a tasting of some 12 and 20 year old Scotch whiskey and the presenter insisted that I dilute the samples with some water. Maybe it was just to overcome the numbing effect of alcohol, but I did get some different sense of the qualities of the drink that way.

Whiskeys and other imbibes are already diluted to reach legal target alcohol levels, too hard to drink otherwise. Adding water helps some and hurts others, as does adding (no more than) one ice cube.

I use water only about 10% of the time and usually only when doing a tasting. I much prefer the natural strength and character of my drink.

As in politics, please drink in moderation!

Stop.

Time for me to get some shut eye. Sweet dreams!

Time for you to resurrect another extinct account.

My account was never extinct and it is the only account I have ever used at AT.

:D

Beside being one of The Most Interesting Men In The World (tm) (that, however, avoids Dos Equis) I am kind of a techie dweeb - I really enjoyed reading Anand Shimpi's personal reviews and articles back in the early days when he was writing out of his home and still going to school. Great stuff! I favorited Ars Technica and AT before some of the poster boyz here graduated from short pants and grammar school.

Like most techies and others that work hard for a living, I love my coffee and I posted my first forum comment on excellent and cheap coffee deals on 10/26/2007. I am also a long time intermittent poster on CoffeeGeek.com and AVSForum.com, reflecting my casual interests.

Honestly, I never even visited P&N or most of the other forums here until a couple of weeks ago as I didn't think the techie community is as well attuned to national and global affairs as professions like finance and government. Sadly, my prejudice was subsequently mostly confirmed.

Being on vacation a couple of weeks ago I was killing time waiting for the ice to melt in my mai tai and just surfed on over. The rest is history, recent history of course, just since 07/10/2009.

Are we havin' fun yet???

Dana Perino was a freaking air headed ditz twat who could barely manage a comeback for "hello" when she was your thankfully EX-Traitor In Chief's press mouthpiece. She's no more credible, now, pimping the Murdoch Faux party line.

I suspect it's no coincidence this handle's initials are "PJ." The political agenda, selection of articles, and posting style are all strangely similar to that other PJ. Not only that, but PJ ME popped up just as the PJ 1.0 slipped into the background, humiliated when two of his threads were shredded in especially spectacular ways.

But that's just my theory ... for now. If I get really bored, it might be fun to do a more formal linguistic analysis, see how well they correlate.

Until then, welcome back PJ. We never missed you.

I'm surprised that someone who worships the ground ultra-progressive talking heads walk upon, doesn't like Dana Perino :Q

You really are a piece of work ;)

Umbrella39 sez,

Ummmm. My familiarity with P&N extends only to the past two week period. As I am new to this forum I have absolutely no idea who you are, nor am I familiar with the more historically active posters. I am guessing that in the next ten seconds I will absolutely forget you.

I am, however, coming to recognize and appreciate the daily regulars who have posted in the last couple of weeks.

I am conscious that some of those whose posts and ideas I am critical of may be ill informed, partisan, wrong headed, hateful, passionate to an excess, spoiling for a fight - any fight, and there are others who take the time and the effort to have a cogent dialogue. I welcome a vigorous ongoing debate, that is why I choose to remain, at least for a short while.

There are those who waste their time with personal attacks and the childishness of name calling, posturing and the out of context baby-like regurgitation of the rote phrases they copied from some playground bully wannabe; they have problems of a type that cannot be resolved on anonymous discussion threads. With these cases I am inclined to have some fun. And it is fun to see them dance. Though sometimes, when they get inevitably and invariably boring, I wish they would just go see someone who can help them get right.

I do hope people here will attain enlightenment but I do not believe it will start nor end with my simple commentaries. I only post for my own amusement. All else is icing.

But this is not about me.

Each of our journeys are life long and there is hope so long as our minds are open and reasonably skeptical.

Have you read my rules for a happy life? Sort of a distillation of Buddhist philosophy. And highly applicable here.
