Put it into context of obamas famous "we can't run our thermostats comfortably and drive cars" perspective and it shows just how bad the DNC is. They're forcing extreme behaviors that lack common sense.

It shows just how at it's core the party actually believes this crap.

Is that not happening in both parties at the moment? Ah I'm right, it is. So the only issue I see is a bunch of people crying and moaning because there green effort does not live up to some preconceived notion of what green should be. I suppose if they had the DNC outside in a park with tents and a campfire you might cry that burning wood was not very green. That is fine of course, but just shows how hypocritical some people can be with the entire "he doesn't live up to the standards he set for himself in my view due to the fact the standards I set for his standards were higher".

I think you missed the point. The point is this kind of effort that lacks any common sense to push the fashion of the moment "green" is disgusting and it's only the dems doing it.

Any sane person would look at these requirements and laugh, but no...they're pushing it and they're going to push it down your throat more and more if not stopped. They ACTUALLY believe this crap.

I think the repubs are the ones with the "green ethanol" that is chocking Americas middle class by shoving it down there throat and watching food costs go up...but I could be wrong. I still don't really see an issue with an effort to lower there environmental impact of the convention. Though if you have the mentality "all or nothing" I could see how this might stir you up a bit.

WOW!!! When did Obama supplant Howard Dean as Chairman of the DNC?

As for the OP thinking that any organization (political or not) overspends to put on a nice PR front for their events is newsworthy....you need to get out into the real world more.

The DNC is nuts. Totally nuts and it won't be long till they're shoving all this crap down all American's throats.

I think that you are nuts if you think that the American people won't push that shovel back towards the middle/right just like the are pushing it back to the middle/left now to counteract the (R) mess of the last decade.

Sure there will be some bending in that direction...but chances are better than not that there will be no breaking on a majority of the issues. Although some certainly deserve to be broken.

I can't stand it when people try to make changes for the better! Who do these "leaders" think they are trying to "lead" people to do things in a different, and maybe better, way?

Status-quo I say!

As a democrat I am outraged, I have always felt the highlight and sole purpose of any democratic convention has been to gorge myself on corn dogs. Well, that tears it, I shall defect to the GOP, and henceforth gorge myself on elephant ears. I have always been suspicious about Thanksgiving as a national holiday, after all, the main course in my case is tantamount to cannibalism.

I hear in honor of Bush the RNC is banning all pretzels, maybe it's more of a precaution than an honor.

errrr what exactly does your link refute?

We are proud to stand at the helm of the finest Convention team we?ve known. As the arm of the national Party tasked with planning and organizing the Democratic National Convention in Denver, the Democratic National Convention Committee has been at this for more than a year. And we take great pride in our work. That's why we were astonished to read in Sunday?s New York Times such a gross misrepresentation of the groundwork that has been laid to date.

The New York Times asserts that this is a Democratic convention effort ?marred by costly setbacks.? That is false. In fact we are ahead of the game. Anyone who has ever worked on a national political Convention would tell you as much. This is a well managed Convention.

The New York Times states that the Convention is facing ?upwardly spiraling costs on key contracts still being negotiated.? That is false. All major contracts have been executed and we are on track to move in to the Pepsi Center to begin build out on Monday as planned.

The New York Times implies that the Convention has imposed eating restrictions on delegates to the Convention. That is false. Democrats at the Pepsi Center and other official Convention venues can have all the fried goodies they can stomach. Talk of anything to the contrary is just plain silly.

The New York Times reports that Democrats are $6 million over budget in Convention planning and have failed to estimate costs properly. That is false. From day one, prudent budgeting and financial management have been an important part of our Convention planning ? across the board.

The New York Times states that ?overly ambitious environmental goals? from Convention organizers have backfired, citing a lack of interest from delegates in the effort. That is false. In fact, hundreds of delegates have already signed on to the ?Green Delegate Challenge,? and we anticipate recently selected delegates to join in the weeks ahead.

Despite uninformed criticism in the New York Times and the city?s worries about the color and fried nature of food among other things, our focus remains on putting on an historic event that helps keep Senator Barack Obama on a path to victory in November. When August comes, the eyes of the world will be watching. And we?ll be ready.

This thread is hilarious. If only because Craig struggled valiantly only to be owned by Prof John.
