Unfortunately, we are not - nor have we ever labeled ourselves as a true democracy. Actually it is "To the Republic" were a Republic. Thats the type of govt we are. To be more precise we are a Republic that utilizes Democracy to some degree with heavy emphasis on a Capitalist view.
