I can tell you one thing, the Republicans have dreamed for decades about having a speaker as powerful as Nancy Pelosi. They even admit it.

She was a very good leader but unfortunately we have been seeing how she also held us back - she definitely kept the progressive wing neutered as much as possible and there are many articles I read about that - at the time I thought maybe she knows best even though I didn't like it.

She hated Trump, but she was ultimately a centrist leaning party consultant class Dem. She helped keep the progressives down, the only ones with a real message of change. That's what the people wanted. The Dems lost partly because of who they put up, and also because they never really offered a big change that would resonate with the average American voter. We saw this really manifest itself with the Kamala campaign. And we see she is still clueless - shutting AOC out of the oversight committee ranking Dem position for a fossil.

She ultimately did a lot of great things but since 2016, when progressive Dem policy should have powered through, she helped quash it. And that has given us Trump twice.

Yes she helped get Biden out but ONLY AFTER HE FUCKED US. Just like all the other feckless and incompetent Dem leadership, she let Biden fuck us by anointing himself King and steamrolling the shot of a competitive primary.

- A lot of the old guard were not prepared for Trump. They are still stuck in the mindset that there are rules and procedures and smokey back room handshakes that people will abide by. That there is shame, that as soon as underhanded BS is exposed you resign. That there are people across the aisle who will thumbs down bad legislation from their own party that will legit hurt a lot of people. They're stuck in 1970's America, not 2020 America.

America moved on. America is looking for authenticity in a world of staged insta bullshit and "nothing on the internet is real". That's Trump's superpower. He lies through his teeth shamelessly, is crass rude and unfiltered. He's a disgusting human being but he's REAL. That is why his Magats will follow him into hell.

The Dems have members of their party that have that authenticity (who also benefit from not being fat corrupt pieces of shit) but the old guard is so cowed and scared and beat down and indoctrinated with the "America is a center right country, so we need to be a center right party" that they don't even fucking know what they stand for or who they are anymore, and therefor are unable to recognize the change in zeitgeist or identify the members of their party who can carry the brand forward.

Yep, absolutely 💯

The party is outdated due to their basic corruption as a bloated, out of touch, catering to the center of the wealthy status quo section of the party compared to an actual party of the people. Sure compared to the evil GQP they are the party of the people, but overall, compared to actual parties across the Western world who are for the people, they are not even close. And now, they are too entwined with their own elitist selves, holding onto power, loving their power, enjoying their insulated lives and they simply are incapable of meeting the moment.

This is why the party needs to die or an actual revolution in the party has to happen and clean house of this corrupt leadership. They are not what the average person needs at all.

Pelosi and others are the same types as those who sidelined this guy for at least a month during the 2024 campaign because he was too progressive and plain spoken. What a fucking shame.

Damn, Trump basically taking a massive shit on the global economy means Chuckle Fuck's games will not only be forgotten, but are probably good politics (even if we're all kinda fucked).

Dems could have stopped all of this (at least temporarily) by jamming up the CR, but then they'd be the ones "responsible" for shutting down government and furloughed employees and preventing Trump from "all the winning". And let's be honest, Dems are always somehow tangentially responsible for everything, even now the Mouth of Shit for Brains Sauron is removing ticker symbols and saying its somehow Biden's fault and blah blah blah.

Now no one will ever remember that Dems helped pass the CR and got out of the way, allowing Trump and Republicans to tie the hangman's knot they will swing by (assuming red states don't just purge everyone who isn't an R party donor from their voter rolls first).

One thing you said did not compute with the polls. There were multiple polls at the time of the potential government shutdown, and the Republicans were going to be blamed way more than the Democrats.

The fact that Chucky had access to those polls and still made that decision, just goes to show how terrible he is at his job

Anything for the private sector compensation after he leaves office!

In my continuing effort to understand the opposition, this is the first time I have ever agreed with the incredibly obnoxious “conservative” columnist, USA Today’s Nicole Russell.

Ideally Biden should have resigned when he felt himself slipping badly. But what other Plan B is there? Harris and others could have tried to talk him into it, but since we know that would not have worked, what is Plan C? Seems like obviously, the 25th amendment.

But a mitigating factor is the right’s relentless gaslighting made people like me not believe a word they say, so I mostly wrote off their overblown attempts to doctor photos and videos to show him wandering off or talking to people not in the frame as disingenuous.

But we did all see how feeble Biden was becoming. The lesson for me is I will continue to try to see their side, trying to cut through the hyperbole and gaslighting. I actually think if we both became less touters of our party line and tried to honestly engage, it would be baby steps toward lessening this terrible polarization.

But that said, all a maga acquaintance of mine can do is echo Faux News talking points and believe everything they say and just flat tell me I am wrong. So I see what many of you say about their being no use trying to talk to a maga. Nothing is easy.

All the attention is on the lunacy of the Trump administration, and that is keeping eyes off of the failure that is the Democratic party. They could be using this time to fix the fundamental broken things - like their leadership. Instead Chucky is just failing forward, there doesn't seem to be any solid leadership in messaging or mostly anything that should be happening.

Cory made a great speech, the Dems gave unanimous consent for the nominee right after, and Cory voted to send Israel more bombs the next day.

Now this Senator is FINALLY, FINALLY going to make the Trump party vote on every nominee, no more unanimous consent for anyone. FOLKS WE ARE 2.5 MONTHS INTO THIS FASCIST ADMINISTRATION - and JUST NOW the Dems are going to block all nominees. I'm happy one fucking Senator found some balls, but the Dems are famously the party of - 'Better Late than Never, If Ever' it seems.

Jesus H Christ this is just getting obscene. And they are just using the cover of the Trump adminstration to not get better because nobody has time to pay attention to them, except, of course, this one Senator. And of course AOC/Crockett/Sanders/Murphy.

It's been some time after Chuck Schumer collaborated with the Trump regime. Not a fucking real peep about removing that sniveling fossil and installing a real leader that can hopefully lead a real opposition party.

Every time the Democrats have a chance to prove themselves these days, they fail. My God this would all be so horrible but at least more tolerable just from knowing there was a real opposition party that knew how to fight.

What a fucking travesty.

With her recent pathetic appearance at the White House, Whitmer has shown she too is not fit for any type of candidacy if we have elections in 2028. And then more fun stuff came out too. A bunch of pathetic idiots. Most of the Dem 'stars' are just feckless corporate consultant class corrupt asswipes like Schumer.

So, America is fucked because you have to sway between a criminal party and a criminally incompetent party.

In fairness, that's a pretty common situation the world over.

I find it hard to believe the Democrats can be as useless and self-serving as the gang of greedy technocrats who have taken over the Labour Party.

We handed 2 elections to fascism due to having a woman lead the ticket and calling her opponent fascist and no one listened!

Maybe she's thinking a "FIX OUR DAMN ROADS!" message will work but Ihave my doubts!

We need a strong man who isn't afraid to call MAGA maggots rather than talk about bipartisanship!

Like Jon Stewart!

This is what AOC and Bernie are showing us needs to happen. Meanwhile the Dems are fine with Chucky as their leader, and lack any cohesive opposition party messaging or leadership, and even just last week helped confirm a Trump nominee. What a pathetic group of people the Dems are.

It's a problem in all 2 party systems. They know no matter what, they can't lose. Ok, we lose 4 years, and next time it's us again. It's a stupid system on purpose designed to trap the voter. Both parties are owned by corporations or big donors. And no one really cares for the little man.

Think about it... 3% of the population owns most of everything and 97 are working for the 3%. Why do the 97% not get their votes to sweeten up their life? Because they have no one that wants to do it.
