LOL - I am sure Democratic induced gas shortages are just what the population of SC had in mind.

A North Myrtle Beach legislator has introduced a bill that would cap gas prices in South Carolina at whatever the average wholesale price is on June 1.

Democratic state Sen. Dick Elliott of North Myrtle Beach said the bill he introduced Wednesday is needed because gas prices are slowing the state's economic recovery.

Elliott's bill would put any excess charges by retailers above the wholesale gas price into a trust fund. The Legislature would decide how to use the money to benefit citizens.

WTF?

So, a gas station has to sell it's gas for zero profit or the state government takes the profit to spend for itself? Are they crazy?

I can't imagine this being Constitutional (or passing).

Hahahahaah omg hahahaha :D

Why are some people so clueless about economics?
They think they can just legistlate us into prosperity.
Simply pass a bill and all gas prices will suddenly be lower.
Fail as usual.

Ah, the last time we had price controls on gasoline was under a Republican President-Nixon.

South Carolina is the arm pit of the south. They've been known for their political stupidity since they were the first to secede from the union. You might as well go find a nearby ghetto or a bunch of hillbillys to poke fun at.

Socialism in the third world you mean. They're so poor they might as well be another country. They're so poor if the federal government didn't give them handouts they would secede again!

Corrected this for you. Oh, and don't forget this is the same POTUS who gave us the EPA.

Yeah, that evil EPA. They did things like clean up rivers, lakes, and fined polluters. Gosh, that mode of protection before ("property rights") fucking failed big time. The EPA isn't perfect but it is far better than nothing at all.

Not so sure that it's always better than nothing at all, but sometimes it is, and sometimes something like the EPA is needed. The problem with such agencies is that they inevitably overstep their bounds and start imposing bureaucratic stupidity on society.

Wouldn't call it Democratic stupidity as the only way it would happen is if everyone voted for it(Dems and Reps), so I would call it SC stupidity.

Man, I sure want to see the plan for increased production that lowers gas prices.

Oh wait, OPEC will what? Decrease their production to offset, you say?

I guess there's no winning the oil game as a buyer. I'm shocked.

So let them decrease production, I rather US oil companies getting the money than OPEC.

They can only decrease production so much until their precious cartel begins to unravel.

Yeah. Right.

Check U.S. daily usage vs. total potential output of U.S. reserves.

And then look over at the rest of the friggin' world. You think OPEC needs our consumer base in the long-term? There's a world waiting to overtake our gluttonous needs.

Where are the jobs again?

Oh, thats right, China.

Instead of enacting reasonable regulation, they went over the top, drove jobs out of the United States, and now China dumps CRT monitors into rivers.

And to think that the EPA could have taken a middle ground.

Unfortunately it isn't far from the mark. These are the four lowest income per capita states.

Louisiana – $16,912
Arkansas – $16,904
West Virginia – $16,477
Mississippi – $15,853

You can basically just use the Mason Dixon line to divide the country into rich and poor states.

Actually, both Maryland and Pennsylvania have their shitty, low-income areas.

Yes, clearly if we had let companies dump CRT monitors into rivers, or at least into lakes, we'd be OK.

Jobs didn't leave for China because the EPA, they left them because China's fucking around with the monetary system.

You're forgetting that these are the same stupid Democrats that voted for Alvin Greene to represent them in the South Carolina Senate Primary.

So yes, I say the title holds.

Even if it passed, the only logical outcome would be gas would no longer be sold in SC and the stations just outside the borders of the state would jack their prices up sky high. People would actually end up using more gas to get it from far off stations and the state would end up with even less revenue than what it started with, LOL.
