It's too bad the Republicans are against the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform act.

It's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction.

This bill would have to be drilled with holes before Bush ever would sign it.

before people start lining up behind each party, remember, competition is good...we honestly cant have on party for the obvious reason, its inevitable and there is no real realistic other way.

Ok Onery my nose is back in

Lets broaden this some. Im not just talking about the Reps and Dems at the federal level. Remember we do have state, county and local governments too that are just as partisan as the feds. We all scream we want tax relief but most of those screams are directed toward washington. How about state and local taxes? Add up all the taxes you pay everyday for everyday items its horriable. The one tax that gets me is the land tax. Ie... rent. thats right rent if you dont pay your land tax/rent the state will come in and take it.

As far as what to do about the partisanship. I dont anything can be done. Both parties are too entrenched and only pop their heads up to take a shot at each other. There is too much money involved, too many special lobbiest that bend their ears to their will instead of the peoples wishes. Too many perks, throw-backs and corruption. Members of both parties have it good and neither are willing to compromise their positions by taking the first step and voting against any resolution introduced they disagree with but their party is for.

our third parties that have run for the white house have failed because of a joint effort by the reps and dems to keep them out. They dont want a third party in congress, senate or the top office. Their cushy lifestyle would be seriously compromised if a third party ever was able to get a toe in the door.

All I can say is that I think people generalize and stereotype the political parties too much and its just plain foolish. Just having certain democratic views does not make you have all democratic views, even if you do consider yourself to be affiliated with one or the other.

The same thing happens to the third party that has always happened. Their issues get taken up by the main parties if they are worthy. That's what happened to Perot's main issue in 92. Both the Dems and GOP took note and added the "balance the budget" issue to their platforms. So, it worked out well for everybody, but the Reform party. We got a balanced budget and the Reform party is toast.

At the local level, we still have the same issues. Right now we have a fight over our local RTA trying to grab land for shuttle parking. Some factions would like to get rid of it altogether. I voted for a .25% county tax increase to fund it about 20 years ago. It was supposed to be used to help "old people" get back and forth to the store and doctor. Now all we have is overpaid drivers and bureaucrats with a bunch of empty buses driving around. At this point I'm on the side that says pull back that tax. Start over and let the old people use vouchers to ride in privately owned buses, vans or cabs. Not far different from the Federal level, is it?

To you fdiskboy, I say the same thing as I do to all men who want to tell women what to do with their bodies. Study Biotech, invest in a right wing men against abortion group and get the research done so that the embryos women don't want can be transplanted into your bellies where you can bring them to term. Get bussy now. Alot of babies are dying while you just talk.

In other words you are mo more interested in the lives of those fetuses than the man in the moon. You're into controlling other people out of a disguestingly arrogant opinion that you know better. You know nothing, just like everyone else.

The rights of the fetus conflict with the rights of women. That battle was decided in favor of women by the same outfit that elected Bush. I sympathise with your inability to accept justice.

If only the outcry to protect the right of men to do with their bodies as they please was as loud as those who crusade for women. Instead we have prisons full of drug addicts.

Hypocrisy?

Democrats aren't interested in freedom, they're interested in votes. Abortion rights get them votes, drug rights would not.

That 10Billion will either be spent by the useless Federal bureacracy or the faith based groups. Either way, I don't seem to be allowed to hang onto it. The story I hear, is that the faith based programs have a better track record than the Federal ones:

EXECUTIVE ORDER TO PUT FAITH ORGANIZATIONS BACK IN GOV'T DonaldDuck82 Feb/01/2001

Don't forget Moonbeam, that federal courts were OK with slavery for quite a while too!

Could be, but I don't see how they can do worse. Hey, I'd pull the whole pile of money and give it back to the taxpayers, but I don't think that would look too good if done by the GOP, do you?

Yea, Bush has a winner in the church based, I mean the faith based thing there. The Black Muslims have some fabulous programs and I'm sure they should be entitled to a lion's share of the money.

Can we start an ATOT religion? Who would be the leader of the flock? I'm sure Anand would pass. How about UG? He'd like that :p

And we could have a program to save people from neffing or forum addiction. Talk about the blind leading the blind! :p
