$280 million concession package.

this is on top of a $1B concession package they agreed to last year.

"The agreement avoided a ruling from a three-judge arbitration panel that could have agreed with Delta's request to reject the existing union contract that would have imposed terms on the pilots. "

gota love bankruptcy. bend the union over w/o lube and the union cant do anything but take it.

update:
Delta pilots approve agreement with the bankrupt carrier calling for $280 million in annual concessions, including initial 14 percent pay cut, The Associated Press reports.

Unions are nothing but theives anyways, so a little bending over on their part doesnt bother me.

That's what could happend if Delphi and GM don't turn around quickly. Bankruptcy court can null and void union contract.

Let see, you can have a choice of $15/hr or $0/hr. Very simple.

Seems to me that this is a very good example of corporations and unions working together.

The union didn't get "bent" over. If both sides did make consessions...Delta would be gone within the year.

What are your views about train drivers or bus drivers or taxi drivers?

do they pilot an airborn dildo that penetrates the clouds at 500mph in a sexy sexy fashion with upwards of 200people on board, if not a LOT more?

Also, trains nad buses have predefined routes that are based on static visual queues such as traffic signs and such. Flying based on radar.

Much more complicated.

Not to mention that some of the new pods have 50k lb/ft thrust each

Your right. When a taxi crashes, there is an entire federal investigation and hundreds of lives lost/affected. Not to mention that taxi ALWAYS costs hundreds of millions of dollars. Lets also not forget the lawsuits involved, costing upwards of hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars total in fines, lawsuits, and replacement costs. But really, taxi drivers and pilots are the same. Idiot.

Looks a little lop-sided; i.e., starting pay for the first officer is a bit low. But the rewards are there if you stick to it or make captain, so that's good.

Frankly, when I fly, I want the guys flying "my" plane to be best in the biz. If they're good pilots and happy with their pay, even if quadruples my pay, then good for them, and good for me.

That's what I was thinking.

The last thing I want is a disgruntled (sp?) pilot flying me around.

Precisely. I knew I couldn't be the only one who feels this way.
