From Keroseen's post:
Price match a 3300SCE Scanner with Walmart at $49.63.
Use a $10 of $40 coupon (Expires 7/15!) - 40MIR = FREE!!!!!!!!!

Compusa Has this Delta DVD Rom for 80- 40 instant rebate so PM staples with compusa and add the PM scanner with walmart
so (scanner)49.93+(DVD ROm)40=89.93 + tax + add something to get it upto 100 and use 20$ 0ff 100$.
finally $80-$40 Scanner MIR= $40

or

PM staples with compusa for dvd rom and use 10$ off 40$ but you can do it for only one day as 10$ coupon is expiring.

please don't flame.
thanks hawkeyeNJ for the flyers

Or pick up the dvd for just $30 ($40 - 10 coupon). Of course you could get the scanner for $10 more but there's that rebate hassle. Good posts.

I may go for this deal too. I've got a Celeron 766 with 160mb ram. Without any decoding card, how do people think performance will be? I've been getting a dvd urge especially see all the great deals posted lately and can't justify the cost of a dvd player for our TV yet!

u can do it online at staples.com or at the store also.if you go to store take the sales flyer from compusa and show it to the staples people.
if u r doing it online go to this help section on staples.com
and click on the live support or u can call 1-800 # staples.
I think in i wanna thread or some where on this forum someone explained it really well for the newbies.

I have no knowledge of the Delta DVD, but the Delta CD-ROMs are crap. I had 2 and neither one lasted a year.

How smooth is DVD play on this drive going from layer to layer? Also, what is the DVD rip speed?

Compusa.com doesnt show the delta drive as being discounted from $80 and there are no advertised specials. Where did you guys get the flyer from? I'd like to print out the special off the web and bring it to staples. Can someone please point me in the direction to where I can find it in writing that the delta 12x is discounted to $40?

Thanks

I dont suppose we can buy this stuff w/ the effective prices before sunday?

Wouldnt that be funny that the sales associates don't even look at the effective date?

someone asked about the Delta DVd (not trying to crap thread):

I got a couple of them for $40 the other week by PMing to CompUSAs sale.

They are loud, but seem to work ok. There is a firmware upgrade at http://www.deltaww.com ( i think).

DAE is only 8x for me, and i only watch DVD on it (so 1x) not sure on DVD ripping speed.

Man,

I've tried the pm'ing a couple of times, and I think they've flagged my account. Both were no-go's. I got stuck with CSR's who would PM cuz the rebate price was lower than Wal-Mart's, and some who wanted to add next day shipping charges. I guess I'll try again later at like 2 AM, hoping they are too drowsy to 'follow standard price matching procedures'.....:disgust:

My 2nd Delta CDROM quit reading CD-R now. DVD rom is OK, and not as loud as before firmware update.

Their Taiwan site has firmware 0.24 (or 2.4), which fixed my DVD reading problem. And it is still reg. free.

But now their CDROM site got updated, and the firmware seems to be 2.6. I will try it tonight, and I am not afraid of breaking it, since I got this DVD rom, as well as their CD rom, free after MIR.

Bump for the deal on the Delta 12X DVD drive at Staples (PM from Compusa)

Just did the deal for $39.99 + PAck of Gum. Used the $10 off $40 coupon (Expires today!) Total $33.24 (incl. CA sales tax)

So hurry if you want this deal.

Pretty hot for a DVD drive...

Flashed the drive to the ver 2.60 Firmware, faster access speed and slightly better audio ripping

<< Has anyone been able to make the Walmart Price Match Thing work?? >>

The Staples store manager did, for the moment, refuse to match the walmart.com printout that I brought with me for the walmart.com $49.63 Price Match because apples to apples (including next day shipping) is the PM deal. Unfortunately for him, there is a Bricks & Mortar Walmart about 200 yards from his shop. And they have at least 6 HP 3300Cse's in stock at the $49.63 price. Staples closed shortly there after, but tomorrow is another day. Don't expect a whole lot more argument / discussion. Seems like a slam dunk, to me. I'll see.

Watch out...that Toshiba 16X only rips at 2X, so if that is your goal...

I tried firmware 2.6, the first thing I noticed was the tray open/close too fast. And DVD movie does not play smoothly on root menu. So I flashed back to 0.24. Everything works fine. From DVDSpeed, this Delta only read DVD as 2X, and data CD as 8X.

At first I saw this thread and I was like NO I'm not clicking on ANYTHING made by Delta! I have the CD-ROM and would not want the DEVIL using this CD-ROM!
