No, this is a Staples rebate for $20 and is valid till JAN. 13TH. Had the local Staples Pricematch Compusa on the Drive for $29.99 then got the rebate form for $20.
Great Delta 50X drive for less then $10. One rebate per address.

My bad. There are two coupons. One of them is still good. I clicked on the wrong one first. Didn't realize they covered different date periods.

in the fine print for the staples mail in rebate, it says "Offer not valid with any other rebates, offers or promotions." A lot of rebates say it and still work with the coupons that we've come to love, but I was hoping somebody could confirm it for me still.

Visions:

If you are concerned, use one of the B & M coupons (and PM with CompUSA, while you are there) and ask the store manager this question. In the VERY unlikely event that we are all wrong, then you can go back for an instant rebate.

I got this drive and the rebate came. The only drawback is that it just died 2 days ago... only had it for like 2 months. Only if their warranty is valid, I don't recommend it.

Been using the Delta 52x for a couple of months daily no problem. For $9.99 I don't expect a plextor though.

The Canon Photo software I received had another $10 rebate in the box, sent to a different address. I called the CSR, who suggested I send them a copy of the UPC and try my luck...

Madmark same here. Got mine for next to nothing a couple of months ago and it died 3 days ago! Mine always was loud (think Hoover upright). And slow. (Think 8X). Good thing I don't use if for much.

I read up on the deta 50x drive on deja. It looks like real crap to me. About as bad as anything I've seen there, that isn't a total scam.

Suggestion. Get an Aopen 52x cd-rom from accessmicro.com. $32.00. Highly rated. Aopen is a big and high quality manufacturer, which lots of outfits use as their real source for stuff they slap their label onto.

Avoid Delta. I was hot to trot also, until I supressed myself, and took a moment to read. I even had a $0 scheme cooked up. Not worth it if it causes lots of hassles.

Aopen is also good as the read source drive for CloneCD copy protect duplicates.

It pretty much breaks down to paying 5 or 10 bucks for a cdrom that will last you 2 months or so. If you want something good, consider a Toshiba or something that cost about 50 bucks and will be there 2 years later. Update to warranty thing: I called and left a voice message a couple days back but haven't heard back. I doubt they will ever... but if they do, you get to extend the life of ya drive by another 2 or 3 months....not a bad deal.

JayR, mine was actually working pretty good for the 2 months I had it. It read cdr's without any problem and adaptec ezcd indicated that it actually ran at 48x. But a couple days ago it finally kick'd the bucket after it made some loud and nasty sounds (without a cd in it...I wonder why it was even spinning to start with...). Oh well, time for another cdrom.
