Delphi MyFi Portable XM

i just wanna be able to listen to MLB broadcasts and good music without commercials. nba playoff games would be nice too.

i cannot tune am stations inside my building!!

I don't have the myfi, but XM satilette raido is good.

You say you are in a building, try and check around the office and see if anyone else has either XM or Sirruis and see what their reception is like inside the building. This would be the only drawback in that it might degrade the reception of the signal.

As for traveling on the road, you will love it. XM has the MLB games, but not the nba. I'm not sure if Sirruis has NBA or not. you would need to check out their what they carry.

For sports:

XM: NASCAR & MLB
Sirius: NHL (if & when they come back), NBA (all playoff games),NFL (exclusive contract), and NCAA basketball & football

well that sux. How does it sound with the wireless FM transmitter? In my car I guess I could run it to an Aux-In connection. But at work I'd be using the FM transmitter. Does it sound good that way?

nope nobody else has such gadgets. Their all happy with crappy local radio.

I've got a MyFi...one of the major factors with indoor reception is if there is an XM repeater in your area (a ground-based transmitter). A repeater sends a much stronger signal than the satellites, so that you can get service in areas without a clear view of the sky. If you can't get AM reception, then you won't be able to get a signal from the satellites, so a repeater is your only hope indoors.

I'm in an area without a repeater, and the internal antenna is pretty much useless. If the unit isn't facing south, you probably won't get service, (even outdoors) with the internal antenna. I have mine set to record O&A and some music each morning, so I can listen to that rather than mess with live satellite reception. I can get about 7 hours of recording time, since the talk channels are at a lower bitrate than the music channels.

Sirius has the NBA and NFL, XM has MLB.

Sirius is supposed to have a MyFi-like tuner out in June, with recording and MP3 playback.

edit...

The FM transmitter is pretty good (better than most of the "add-on" ones), but the highs still sound clipped. If you want the best possible sound, I'd go with the tape adapter (it comes with one), or an AUX input.

Thanks for the info. Well if I had to choose between XM and Sirrus then I'd go XM. Just wish they had all the sports on one carrier!!

In my building I can get reception to some AM stations but they sound horrible like AM stations usually do. And they are hard to stay tuned in. I live in a city of 130k people. So I don't know if that helps of not on the XM repeater issue.
